hey guys any ideas..???

I meant to be picking up my car tomorrow!! freaking out a bit...

...called direct line they wanted to do it as a standard 20VT then ad mods?? came out a total rip off...

...cant try greenlight as they are not open - I need this for tomorrow......

shall I just put it on as a plus - they are very similar aren't they?

Why isn't the LE with the major insurers?

Just try another insurer, try http://www.confused.com or http://www.moneysupermarket.com

To be honest you have left it a little late, but then I guess you don'r really wat to hear that \:D

Don't know if this covers all LE's - but both the ones I've had have not stated on the log book that it's anything other than a standard 20VT. I guess the information a car model that insurance companies have available to them is from the DVLA - so it probably won't come up as an LE on their search.

I'm insured with Admiral, and recently had to claim. At first they wouldn't believe that it wasn't a standard car, but eventually they phoned Fiat who confirmed it - and they increased their offer. Obviously you want to try to get recognition that it's an LE - but with the timespan you've got that's perhaps not possible. Try Admiral - they're very reasonable.

I went through bell in the end - put standard 20VT but then there's an option to state optional extras so i put bodykit, uprated brakes, interior changes, exterior decorative changes....it added another £200 quid! I had to go with it though as i was picking the car up the next day....

...I'm real annoyed at Bell though - when I called up to pay by installments they said i loose all discounts so it's costing shed loads...i have 14 days to cancel so might just go with Direct Line - or try greenlight or something....

Try noel dazely, they know the coop very well, talk to dean there, they'll sort you out.

You have a 14 day cooling off period, so cancel Bell and go elsewhere \:\)

Mate Noel Dazely or greenlight (who have been excellent so far).

Agree the registration number does just come up with the standard 20v Turbo.

On most systems you need to amend the car to the specific LE one (which IS in a higher group and hence more expensive), eg typically something like this:
Year 1998 ->
Maker Fiat ->
Model Coupe ->
Engine 1998 ->
Car = Fiat Coupe 20V (6-speed) Turbo 2dr Std 98

That *is* the LE because that was the ONLY 6-speed Fiat Coupe 20V in 1998. The 6-speed variant without the LE bits only came out in 1999 once they'd assessed the market and feedback from the LE.

That's what I've always done since 1999 (in 1998 the insurers hadn't caught up) and never had a problem with my four claims - 3 in first year for break ins, and 1 in 2005 for a traffic light shunt which did specifically cover an LE bit with Elephant (ie the front under bonnet spoiler which had to be replaced).
