Just spent the day down the pod innit ;\) It was a good day...

Started with a 12.35, then a 12.2 followed by a 12.0 \:\) So it had to be 11s...

11.98 @ 118mph

11.94 @ 121mph

Two very nice back to back runs. Couple of issues after lunch halted further progress... but there is more to come \:\)

Good going Leighton, you have come along way on your launching from last year \:\)

Were you using Marvic's old hoosier tyres?

Nice one m8 \:D

So how road legal was the car during those runs? ;\)

Also, do you have your 60ft times and break down of the splits?

Here are my splits:

60ft - 2.0648
330ft - 5.2959
1/8 ET - 7.9087
1/8 MPH - 94.57
1000ft - 10.0248
1/4 ET - 11.9428
1/4 MPH - 121.00

I ran my usual setup except for Mavric's old Hoosier radials which made a nice difference on the 60ft \:\) Peak boost was 1.65bar although I am mapped for 1.9bar but due to some fueling issues I haven't run that yet.

Short video of the 11 second runs \:\) - 12.5mb WMV (right click save as)

Thats for posting the splits m8. Make a facinating insight into the times. Just goes to show how important the launch is on the 1/4m!

I can't remember the exact splits, but Dan was able to run 13 dead at the pod off a 2.0 60ft time with aprox 330bhp on a 28RS.

From my own perspective at Crail (the track surface there is night and day with the pod so I'll never be able to launch as well at Crail even in the dry) I was able to run 13.21 off a 2.483 60ft.

What is interesting is the break down of the splits:

Flea was 0.4 ahead of me at 60ft and had a 1/8m of 7.908. At the same point I was 8.93. The TVs were 94.57 compared to 85.90. So in the comparison Flea is 10mph faster and 1.03 secs ahead. Flea was 5.85 between 60ft and 1/8 where I was 6.45.

On the 2nd 1/8m is where it gets interesting. Fleas TV was 121 so gained 26.43. My TV was 116.3 so gained 30.4mph. On the splits Flea was 4.03 secs and I was 4.28. A difference of 0.25 secs , making overall diff of 1.28 seconds.

Undoubtly Fleas car is way quicker than mine, but its the launch and getting the power down that shows where the time is made. Over the 1st 1/8 I was 10mph down on speed, yet was only 5mph diff at the line.

Would be interesting to see some other splits from anyone else and begin to make up a picture of where coupes make their times.

in this moment my tuner Rama has building dyno room so i don't know power of my engine. I will know it before end of september i hope.
I only know that my coupè weight 1080 kg, i run at 1.1 bar Turbo preassure...(best time to do 200-400m when you see the power of engine was of 3.946 and 4x4 is no better that original FR coupè) so i think to have about 360-380 hp in this moment.
when i will do dyno i will try at 1.5 bar o +...... :-) without nos..

@ Fergie, yes the 60ft makes a big difference to actual 1/4 times, somwhere in the region of 3/10ths at the line for every 1/10th in the 60ft. Terminal speeds are sometimes odd as they vary somewhat but generally reflect real world grunt i.e. power to weight. My fastest terminal over the 1/4 was 124mph at TOTB this year but it was a 12.6 on road tyres.

@ Marco, As for power, not 100% sure on the day as I wasn't running max boost or ignition timing but I would say around 450bhp+. I don't strip any weight so it's always in full road spec which is circa 1310kg. I think if I can perfect the launch (I did do a 1.97 60ft), run full boost with fueling fine then there is an 11.6 to be found \:\)

@ Nobby, I promise to let you borrow my Hoosiers one time... better make it count ;\) \:D

hoosisers are better of all tyre stock and race.
My best was 2.080 with avon slick (Anterior coupè)
Now is 1.607 with Bridgestone S02 (4x4 coupè) but with TOYO R888 (semislick) 195/50/16 i will try to go down 1.6
i hope to go down 11 sec in 1/4mile next race without nos.

Marco, your power to weight is very impressive and with 4x4 it's a devastating combination over the 1/4 The Hoosiers do make a difference but more so for FWD where the first 60ft is the weakest link as 1st gear can be utilised much more \:\)

Flea, if you run with full interior, I'd recommend taking out the passenger seat, rear bench and seat plus the boot floor and spare! Only takes about 5 mins with a socket set.

Must be at least 50kg just in that lot, if not more ;\)

Personal note to self - must take a trip to the pod sometime...

Checking this thread from Spain in my 24 mins for 2 euros, and WELL DONE mate. As beggers said you have come a long way from last years launches. I have to say Flea u need to whip the interior out as ferg said and get the best possible figure. Then you can compare against running the full interior. As for the splitting of hairs....

11.9 was first achieved by Mavric. As far as im concerned, you will get better, so at this point in time, you've matched him in my opinion. I think you will get better.

Ross

first drop front tire pressure to 19 - 24 psi depending on make of tire, pump the back ones up to around 38 - 40 psi, do a couple of decent burn outs just before you go down the strip (without over doing it as you will snap a drive shaft) then basically stage as quick as possible, rev car between 3000 and 5000 ( seems to get turbo spinning a bit) when you see the green light and it goes back down to 3000 floor it and let go of the clutch at approx 4000 – 5000 rpm depending on your turbo for nice launch if not racing against the clock for at lights etc just hold the revs at 4000 on green floor it and release clutch at 4500 not as fast but effective, it’s very difficult to get it right but practice makes perfect.

Another video from the same day when I went head to head with a Corvette Z06 505bhp \:\/

Flea vs Corvette Z06 - WMV @ 5mb

I mess up the launch bouncing off the limiter too much but it was still a good head to head \:\)

I have to say I really like this American Supercar as it now does everything very well indeed. There was a yellow Z06 at the FightingTorque event which performed exceptionally well. It looks great from the outside and is pretty sweet on the inside too, especially the fighter jet head-up display Oh and the cost, pretty darn cheap tbh!
