personally i don't know what the big deal is about getting one with leather as it's an easy upgrade later if you can get one with cloth for a bargain price.
mine has got cloth and yes it would be nice to have leather but i went for cloth with aircon as it is easier to fit seats than aircon.

I think you need to step back and decide on what your looking for, your budget, colour, whether you want aircon etc.

A 20v, a Std 20vt and a genuine 300bhp 20vt are wildly different in the performance stakes, not to mention upkeep.

Read the buyers guides. Ask a local forum member to take you out in one, (although you dont say where you are?)

If you find one that you are genuinely interested in, once you have seen/driven it, then ask a forum member to go and help you. We are all a friendly bunch, Carlt included, but you have to remember Carlt is a busy man and probably gets about 50-100+ pm's a day from people asking about parts, cars etc.

Nobody knows why that car is cheap, you will just have to ring up with (remember the buyers guide) ask a few questions and go along and take a look. Ask someone on here if they will come along (maybe not Carl though )

Its pretty easy, get it HPI'd, see if it has a service history, do the panels match, what is the condition of the interior etc. It may be a bargain, it may be a shed. Best go along and take a look because then at least you will have something to compare the others to. Check what has been changed and then decide if the price is right.

I am hoping to see Damiens 20V soon, although I have a feeling it wont give me the performance I am after, I think, if I am going to by a 20V it will be his one.

If not it will be a 20VT.

Budget is up to £3.5k for the right car, and I live in Shrewsbury, but currently travel the country for work.

i think you maybe need to drive both the 20v and the 20vt to make the decision then try and see some of the colours in the flesh to help you decide.

Yes, Carl is a victim of his own success.Straightforward, helpful guy who knows his stuff and can be trusted. Not surprisingly, he gets a lot of business from us and we like to tap him for info.
