In theory you wont. But the standard ebv can be a bit temperemental sometimes so you might find the boost goes a bit see-sawy.

If it was me, I'd fit a boost gauge and a prv/ebc too just to keep an eye on things. But then I'd do that regardless of what chip/remap was getting done.

Whats an ebv? Is it the same as an prv?
Where do I get them from?

And an ebc: electronic boost controller, i.e. apexe/greddy/blitz etc

Think you'd get a prv (or pbv I can never remember which) from Jap.

EBV = electronic bleed valve. You have one in your car already, also called Pierburg solenoid. The ECU sends signal to EBV and the EBV controls the wastegate.

PRV is a mechanical valve. You can only set it to one boost value.

its easy to set up a prv with you having a boost gauge, until the fuelling has been checked set the boost to max 1bar.

the gtec removes the boost limiter in 1st/2nd and a prv bypasses the standard ebv and makes the boost come on much better, totally different car once these have been done.

over time it'll be the clutch that gets it

but if the clutch is nearly worn out, the chip will take it over the edge and will fail shortly after. happened to me when i chipped my 16vt. \:\)
