Yes - definitely interested. A mids meet is definitely overdue. Late Nov best for me. These things always soom to have a much better uptake if you give 4/5 weeks notice. I should have my car back from the paintshop by then as well James

wel im up for karting as long as least a couple other of you guys are, and those that dont want too for watever reason should still come down and have a watch- bye the end of next week latest il need to know who wants to kart so can book it( depending on numbers may not have to book) hopefully we can all agree the beat date in the next week. Iv come up with meeting at donnington park car park as this is pretty well known and sort of central! this could be a mega day!

If you want to organise and exclusive Karting booking, I guess you're going to need about 15 people min and will probably need to book this for about a months time at the absolute earliest. If they are a popular venue, you can expect weekends to be booked out for months in advance... btw, can't make 1st Dec, I'm organising some Karting with Piston Heads at Sutton Circuit.

I fancy a meet but money is tight (something to do with a fuel thirsty car bought with a loan!) so may have to pass on the karts part.

Man, would I even have to turn up? Hardly any fun if it's a foregone conclusion. We'd only need 10 people for a mini race or a mini GP. That's where the fun is.

Just had a look on the web-site, and Stretton Karting is just down the road from my Parents.
[dreamy voice] Leicester Air Show, ahh!![/dreamy voice]
Might be interested.
How about that pub in what used to be Stoughton Farm Park? Cow and Plough? Never been there but the local folks regard it as tops.

Can't do the 1st Dec and if it's earlier than that I'll be turning up in the Accord... Just don't go too fast! Done Karting about 15 times, but I'm used to getting penalised and being lumbered with thh fat boy of the group. So I always prefer individual events!

Stretton? Nope. Always excited by new tracks!
Confirm I can be there for the 17th, but in the Accord I think... maybe... I'll bring my camcorder too.

Who name are we paying the deposit in? What time as well? Sorry I should ask all the questions in one post really! I can probably get some ringers if needed.

Send some PMs. I will on Friday, if I don't need to be reminded...
This is the bugger about organising karting, getting people to commit by parting with some cash!

Phoned today to pay deposit and she wanted to take the £100 for all the 10 ............ nooooooo anyways she has taken my £10 and apparently i am the only one thats called. she advised that today is abad day to call and later tonight or even tomorrow would be prefered as she is not in the office where the card machine is. Good Luck all

Shame. You had a couple of mates up for the karting too? , but now my boss is having the day off i have to be in It still stuns me how many people accept this kind of BS from their employers. Regardless of what I may have planned, the answer is always to politely tell them to enjoy that day off, just like I will be enjoying mine too! No-one can MAKE you work...

I can't believe these peope have bought a car so far beyond their means they have to work weekends to fund them! Working weekends is no life at all, it's slavery! I'm coming from MK, so I was going to go past Sutton to get to Donny. You should come to MK and we'll go hunting some expensive meat... I think Brumjim is still up for both karting and meet. I can get some ringers probably, if you want?

I not got a choice about going in work what time will you lot be at the pub, might try to get down after work, I am fitting a h&s dp after work should only take about 1 hour on the ramp. Also whats the pub called and location. Welformed you need every penny you can when you have a coop and being a mechanic you don't get good wages either . Only benefit is i can do the work myself on the ramp with the right tools Ash

Rest assured though Johnny i will have your car lowered and on increased boost for the run over there.May even have your guage installed as well. If your coming back to coalville Cooter let me know as i havent got any plans after 6 ,so hows about a few down the Ville.

Rite you hoons!! any body have any good ideas on where to meet after karting-somewhere roughly 20mins from stretton so we can ave a bit of a drive!! also people who just coming pub will prob need a postcode for satnav so if you could source that ,that would help-if nobody agrees anything then we will just stop at stretton(thay have a bar) until the army turn up!!!

So what's you plan cooter? You still going to Donny or are you going to come to MK first? Bit of a trip from Leicester and back.

10am? Man, I keep forgetting how these early bird meets crimp your Friday night social life!
It's not going to take 1 1/2 hours to get to stretton though is it? Maybe I can make that 10:30-ish...

Sorry peeps. I went to Donny where I thought Cooter was going, but thought it would be a no show when no-one showed. Saw the 25 mile u-turn I'd have to do, so carried on going home (lincoln and half my reason for going that past stretton). Should've just got up later and gone straight to Stretton it seems!

So cooter is good then eh? Or are we talking relative? He should come down for a major Fccuk karting event. I could do with a challenge... I guess you two got £20 off?

Certainly. That be physics that. I have a mate who weighs about 65Kgs and continually retorts that light people have no advantage which is the biggest load of tosh ever. Coming from a biker you think they'd know all about the speed advantage low weight has...
Lighter = accelerates faster, brakes faster and changes direction faster (lower inertia). Heavy people only gain on corner 'downforce' through gravity but that is cancelled out by inertia on direction changes (centrifugal 'force').
It's that conservation of energy thing. Mass is energy. The less mass you have, the less energy is involved in the whole process, which also means less energy is required to change the potential energy of your current direction (when turning) or speed (when braking or accelerating) - or conversely, if energy input remains the same (from the engine) then less mass = less energy (speed) is lost in friction [with the road] of direction change.
btw, I qualify as a 'heavyweight' at > 80Kgs.

Nice one wf, that's the second time you've blinded me with science Right, I'm off to use the conversion thingy on my phone to see what I weigh in KGs. All I know is, that last time I went karting I got beaten by an 8st, 5ft 2in weakling who didn't shut up about it for weeks. through the corners it was fairly even - I took a more agressive line and usually made slight gains, but every time we reached a straight he would just pull away again Edit: I would be around 88kgs. Game on

Just trying to explain it more clearly each time. "through the corners it was fairly even" That's your clue, especially if you tie it in with the above. You were/are probably far better than him and would decimate in ballasted karts, like proper racing... Call 8st 60Kgs (as I don't work in imperial) and the Kart at 150Kgs, the weakling had around a 11% weight advantage on track? btw, people who are not cleary good but liught are still easy to beat. If you can catch them in the corners, then you know tyou can corner faster, so take a line that focusses much more on exit speed or entrance speed and you will do them in no time. Make sure you give them an insulting wave as you go past too.

Jim wasnt rubbish it was his first time at the track and im sure next time jim you would be faster,it took me 6months to be on the pace in my biland.wellformed im allways up for a challenge mate you organise it and i will be there!!.weight does have a part to play but usually it is down to experience after you have that then you can blame weight!
