This has probably been bought up before, but why oh why did they use lollipop sticks for the sunvisors? Im sure they work a treat if you are 6'7" or taller, but for most of us they might as well not be there!!

Yep, I'm a shortarse too and I'm already trying to think of a solution that doesn't look horrific. Think I'm likely to fail! Don't want to be driving round with my shades on all the time, not at my age...

I had this problem with the GF, as she 5"2 and was getting blinded and hated it!

Solution : Punto MK 1 sunvisor, is apart from a small gap at the A-pillar corner( where sunlight might get thru, no problem fitting-wise) is a perfect fit on the Coupé's sunvisor arm and clip.

The only thing is that they are Grey in colour, I painted it black with shoe dye and she has a sunvisor that works!

To fit, just unclip the visor ( while still bolted to the roof! )and swing it 90 degree's and pull it off it's arm, same way to take it off the Punto, paint and push it on the Coupé's arm.
It's twice the depth of the Coupé's sunvisor, so it won't fit into the sunvisor slot in the roof, but I still use the orginal on the driver's side ;)!!

Well, I don't find they are any more of a problem than most other cars

At least when the visor's down, you can still see the road. In a lot of cars these days, when you pull the sun visor down, you can't even see the road \:o

I think it was a 147 that I noticed this in the other day and was very annoying \:\(

At least you have the option of moving it further forward or back to get rid of the sun, unlike the coop. My girlfriends Peugeot has ironing boards for the sunvisors - not very styish at all but very effective!! In fact im actually thinking of attaching the girlfirend to the sunvisor with double sided sticky tape to fix this probelm(sun glare and moaning girlfriend).

Surely the mark of an exotic sports car is to have day to day items fitted such as sun visors but for them to be a bit pointless. The last thing you want is some great big HGV visor blocking your view!

I've seen small coupe style sunvisors on another car but they are in two sections hinged together so you can fold it out if you need a larger visor.I thinks it's an MX5 that has them, might be adaptable to a coop.

yeah, the mgf and tf have them where a crappy bit of plastic folds down and clicks into place - almost as useless as the coops' but far uglier....

I'm not sure that it's a design fault really. If you had a deeper sunvisor on the Coupe, it would be too deep across the screen, and block a lot of your view, wouldn't it?

I remember on one of my previous cars, (I think the Fiat 131 or 132), and you had these plastic visors, which you'd slide/pull out of the front of the headlining, and across the top of the screen. They were deep shaded (red if I remember) perspex plates, which you could still see through, but were just shaded to stop the Sun from blinding you.

They were a good idea. Don't know whey Fiat didn't continue on with that really...

In the olden days they used to have green sunstrips across the car with bloke's name and his girlfriend's name. Bit like

Also the most fragile assembly on the entire car, it's quite rare to find one that still has the little folding bit intact.

I'm 6' and they are perfect for me, I guess it also depends how laid back you have your seat.

Any bigger and they'd have to be up against the windscreen to not block my whole view.

For some reason I've taken to driving with it down against the windscreen most of the time, think I like the widescreen view \:\)

I fixed a piece of polished mahogany boarding using the medium of gripfill cable ties and blue washing line rope. the only drawback was when driving frivolously over a bump the afore mentioned accessory walloped me in the face

OMG!!! a solution, now I can be able to see.

I think on Monday I'll phone up some scrappies and see if they have a set. This could well be the best modd ever for a coupe!

Have you got any photos of it by any chance?

Yeah, well in the coupe I always look good unfortunately, even though I'd look very continental in a pair of designer sunglasses, and subsequently more stylish, they don't make them in prescription. and my eyes go funny when I ware contacts.

I think it's great. and it's not as if it's permanent, just something for those winter months with the sun low in the sky.

Defiantly off a mk 1 punto then? what reg would that be?
