Its quite amazing how some of the stock coops with just a chip and afew little bits can make such good power (mona), and the cars with bigger turbos, fmic, gtec 2 chips seems to struggle.
I noticed the same on my rr i had all the mods and only made 250 bhp and 220 torque but the other totally stock coop got 240 bhp and 245 torque.

You got some nice torque there MABR, must be nice to drive.

As i said to MABR on the phone, i think the results may be "out" slightly. Some of the figures dont make sense, esp MABR's as hes getting 280lb/ft at 1.2 bar midrange?

You must have been pleased with that Craig! \:D

If the results were out how come many of the other standard ones were getting the right figures? Or do you think everyone was getting a bit too high torque figures?

I think so.

Not wanting to piss on anyones parade, but generally when the torque is higher than the bhp, it means they havent held the boost long enough or they run alot more midrange than redline.

I made 278lb/ft with my 28r running 1.38 bar midrange on a prv. But only made 264bhp at 5800rpm @ 0.9 bar.

Thanks for organising the RR today MABR. It was good to see everyone and to hear the coops getting put through their paces. It's a shame the fan was drowning out the engine noise.
I'm well pleased with the figures that I got. \:\) \:o I never expected to get more than standard power. I'm just glad that it's running healthily though.
I'll post up some of the pics later.

Thanks again.

I only just made it to this event, car was very poorly on the way, put it on rollers purely for diagnostic reasons. Ran about 120bhp and running very very lean the guys said. one of them then spotted i had a small split in the hose on the inlet manifold-where ive got my boost gauge connected to-which will lead to the AFR? they chopped an inch off, stuck it back on and all problems were solved! then ran 260bhp, very happy with that. Thanks to MABR for organising, and the chaps at dyno demon were very good. Been having a few probs with motor in last few weeks-seems all it was in the end was a poxy split hose!

Really enjoyed this meet and was pleased to see I've lost only 4.6bhp from new, on a 9-year-old, 89k miler \:\)

I've got a few photos and vids that I'll try to upload tomorrow.

Thanks to Craig for organising this and the lads at Dyno Demon for trying to explain the graph to a numbnut like me \:D

I went along to Dyno Demon for a fuelling check primarily. I just swapped all the tuning goodies from my 300bhp sprinty blue onto the LE and this was the first time it was tested. To be honest I was expecting more peak power but I was only running 1.2 bar 'cause I'm paranoid I'm going to blow it up using more.

They said my fuelling was "spot-on" and they were very impressed with the torque curve as well.

My boost peaked at 1.18 bar and quite quickly tailed off to about 0.8 by about 6000rpm, by which time the car was well passed peak power.

One thing I noticed from the graphs was that peak power was pre-6000prm. Is it the dyno or is it us?

Hmmmm.

James

If the boost didnt drop off as much then the power would have risen more, and peak power would be later.

I think you'd see a fair bit more power with a good EBC... ??

You'll be glad to know that I got back in one piece guys - with the Coupe being driven gingerly on the advice of Steve!! (And I stopped at the Plough in Q'ferry to watch Wales win the triple crown! \:\) )

Really enjoyed the meet & chatting to you guys - got some good pointers from today & the DD boys were excellent - Steve has shown me the error of my ways i.e. 1.8 bar can be terminal for the internals long term!! \:o Looks like I will be selling the 2nd car to fund a decent EBC (Greddy, probably) as it will indeed be cheaper than (another) engine rebuild! Anyone want an Audi Avant TDi - going cheap!? ;\)

Thanks to Craig for the organisation, the DD guys for the advice about the next steps post-RR, and to Jap for help with the PRV. I'll try & post up some piccies (shame about the weather - that's the 2nd one I've been to now with grey skies & rain!) when I get a chance.

I was very surprised, but delighted that I got such high figures (not so after the boost & fuelling was pointed out by Steve) - and I've now got a nice graph to frame! \:D Money well spent (bargain, actually) & I hope to go to the next one that is organised there post-greddy (or de-tune!).

@ MABR - cheers fella - did you get 273 bhp? I thought it was 271?? \:\?

@ Tynhead - I think you were in front of me near the North Wales border (was a red Coupe) - one of your tail lights is out (offside)!

@clay99 - your Coupe was going fine when it hammered past at the traffic lights near the Toyota dealership off the A550!

Yeah I forgot to mention before how good the guys were at DD. Brilliant job and great that they talked through the graphs with you. I think my mate, (Stu, who was there today) may suggest that the sxoc crowd head that way. I tried to get him to bring his 200 along, but I think he was worried that he'd get shown up. \:\)

Power and torque graph (notice peak bhp at about 5600rpm!?)

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y165/jamesperks/SSL22271.jpg

Wheel power, Air-fuel ratio and boost graph (they were very happy as the fuel richened to about 10:1 as soon as the boost kicked in but thought it got a little too rich towards the top end. Boost of just 0.9bar at max power!?)

Any ideas/comments?

Well your fueling is too rich. It's very safe, but running 10.5 AFR will be loosing you a little bit of power, try a normal G-Tec II and you should see somewhere around 11 - 11.5.

As for the power, if you had held the boost to around 1.1bar throughout the range then you would have seen another 20-30bhp and been back to around 300bhp.

Thanks Flea - that just the sort of feedback I need.

I'm going to pop the Gtec II back in, get my straight induction pipe on and get an electronic boost controller I think.

What else can I do to help boost apart from possibly getting an EBC?

Hi mona, yeah mine was 273. I decided not to say anything as you looked chuffed to get highest figure of the day, well until you found out what 1.8 Bar will do to your engine anyway. \:\) Glad you got home OK mate.

One thing I think yesterday did show was the clear difference between a PRV and an EBC. For the money PRV's are a bargain but if you want reliable control, you pay your money... \:\) I actually sold my original Greddy then got offered another at silly money and I'm sooo glad I did. \:D

Once I've found a scanner, I'll get my graphs up so the experienced among us can pass judgement. \:D Can't get a detailed photo of them with my camera. \:mad\:

Originally, I'd set out to achieve @ 300bhp and my current setup was just a step towards that. However, If I get similar figures at another RR, I'll probably just concentrate on brakes / suspension as I cant justify spending @ £1K for what would probably be an extra 30bhp. \:\?

I ran 1.2 bar on the rollers due to being parinoid about it going pop :). I now run 1.3bar and its been fine and seems to prefer it to 1.2.

With a ebc jap you will hold better boost higher up. When i had a prv my boost tailed off abit but not as much as yours. After fitting the blitz i run 1.15/1.2 bar redline it makes a huge difference and the best thing i brought.
