Hi all, i'm a new member but have been reading the forums for a while now. I will be looking to buy a coupe within the next few months so thought i'd better sign up and ask some questions.

My m8 had a 20vt a couple of years ago so i know all about the performance and looks of the coupe. In that respect i'm 100% certain about buying one, however i'm a little bit unsure about reliability, maintenence and repair costs.

A few things that are worrying me are how likely something is to go wrong, and how much to fix it if it does!!

Could you give me an insight into what's involved in maintaining the 20vt? things such as mechanical/elecrical faults, availability of parts, repair costs etc.....? What should i look for in buying a coupe, and what should i avoid??

I would be looking to spend around £4000-£4500, and would hope for a well maintained, low mileage (70k-ish??) car. Is this realistic?

Obviously i'm asking enthusiasts so i'm guessing the majority of you will tell me how great the coupe is lol, but any feedback, (good or bad) would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Mark

(p.s. apologies for all those questions but i want to be fairly well informed before buying)

Main thing i suppose is make sure cambelt has been changed at around 60k, and that here are no funny noises from the manifold when started up from cold.Other things are really what you look for on most second hand cars.
I'm selling my 20vt sprint blue, s reg coupe...£4000 ono. well looked after.. cambelt changed...i can only try :-)

Thanks, a couple of months down the line and i would have been interested but i need a full year no claims for insurance companies to insure me. I think i will be looking to buy in around may/june. A shame cos i like the sprint blues!
