When he test drove it at launch on Top Gear, I'm sure he commented on the fact that you only had 2 things to deal with, one fighting through the crowds to get in the car, and the other was that if you were over 6ft odd the headroom was tight.

I'm sure he then followed that with "But who cares.." before waxing lyrical about the car.

The only other bits I recall him mentioning was he kept catching the horn (steady!) and the (16v) "turbo lag".

Sure thats also had the interview with the FIAT Boss commenting that "The UK deserve a car like this..."

I’m really looking forward to seeing this but, realistically, I don’t think its going to have any affect on the value of the coop.

How well a car turns into a boat or how far it can drive around the TG track full of water isn’t what most people look for in a car, although I’m sure the coop would win both of those

I just hope they don’t destroy it too much

Can't wait for this to screen. I think this can only be good for the coupe as there aren't that many left and if it puts more interest in the car the values are likely to go up.

Agreed. But the 'value going up' notion cuts both ways.

Fifth gear have a £1500 car challenge in next weeks show.

From the fifth gear website;

Might be good fun to watch. Perhaps a coupe will turn up next week on fifth gear as well as TG in the summer?

I reckon Hammond might get a hot hatch. Coupe, saloon and hatch?

Hammond likes a Porsche, he might get a tired old 924 Turbo.

Has anyone read his book, it's very good, would recommend it to anyone, not just car junkies, a real heart string jobby too.

Did anyone noticed how many more Mondeo ST220 things are on the road since Top Gear raved about them. They acutally did a feature on how rare they are. Couple of years later there are loads around.
So I reckon as long as it does well in whatever test they're doing it can't help but up the price up for good examples.

I've got a feeling Clarkson wouldn't buy a 20VT if they were gonna smash it up or turn it into a boat. I've got a feeling we're gonna get a chance to see it shine.

Plus I just saw a coop for sale on 'classiccarsforsale.co.uk' My prediction is that prices will go up - and the general public will start to realise what a gem the coop is

To be honest I think the only way Coupe prices will rise, will be over a long period of time, with those examples that are in A1 condition.

Any old car, is going to be just that - an old car. Any old car that's been well maintained, looked after, and is near as much A1 condition, *could* be worth more in a few years time.

Luckily, like most of the owners on here I think the intentions of selling the Coupe is pretty minimal, and just the enjoyment of ownership is enough for most of us.

Have to agree, there are much easier ways to make money than waiting for coupe prices to rise

There are rather more coupes around the place, even at the rate Carl's been killing them.
