Five minutes with a hacksaw and you're sorted smile

But I need to supply a longer cable, too.

Will you be supplying longer cable (for a price..) or will the people who are driving on the right side of the road and therefore on the right side of the car need to buy the cable themselves from somewhere else?

How easy is it to modify the carbon plate to fit on the left? Does it just need to be reversed and screwed back on the circuit board or does it really need to be modified?

Nah, as long as I know I'm supplying for the right I'll soak up the extra 50p or so the cable costs laugh but there's no point stuffing extra cable that just needs tidying away somewhere for the right hookers.

You'd *think* that the dash would be a mirror image... but this is Fiat rolleyes so I still have a dozen stainless plates that fit nothing lying around somewhere. The LHS vent is the same height and width at the top, but about 8mm narrower at the bottom (it's nearly but not quite rectangular) so you'll need to measure and cut to taste. But it's only a hacksaw cut (and the CF should be easier than SS) and a file to round the bottom left corner again.

I'm loathe to do it here without a LHD car to practice on, so I'm afraid you have the pleasure.

edit: recommendation - remove the CF plate, make a paper or card template, adjust template to fit the hole, transfer dimensions back to CF plate and *then* cut.

Hi all,

Spent the night thinking where else could the device be fitted - hadn't read anything on this forum yet and only discovered the widget project existed yesterday. I was going to suggest fitting the unit to the wind sheild resting on the dash like you would fit a gps unit only a bit further in towards the engine. I don't really like the idea of giving up such an important air vent (helps de-mist windows on occasions ;-) ).
