Well, since the time has nearly come that ive completed the prototype im gonna start polling for interest.

Obviously noones seen the design yet as they havent been wired up to the car (and that will have to wait til next Friday) however ill have a video up of them in action soon and they will be on display at the next south meet (he says).

The design is an ALL LED dual concentric ring with sides on the outer, brakes on the inner and fog/reverse on the inner.

They are going to have a clear lense with dependent on request a colour coded backing.

And finally they should be about £90 less than all the other LED/bulb combos and are a direct fit.

Assuming i can finish this with no major snags who might be interested as theyll be a limited run. (very very time consuming to make )

Well tbh, in order of this list, they will be made. I think the lead time per set is gonna be a few weeks anyways, so plenty of time to save up.

Are there any pics of what these are going to look like?

Are they going to be a road legal or as I understand you are going to make them yourself? If not road legal than... what will happen if someone drive in you back and be smart enought to mention about not stock tail lights..? Sorry, just a thought but worth considering.

I dont know what needs to be done to classify them as road legal, however my mate who im building these in conjunction with has done a load for Supra's and noones had any problems.

Right Ladies and Gents, here is a picture of my prototype.

Ill warn you its not had the LED's soldered in so its not mounted correctly in the cup at the moment and the colour the backing is painted is the only stuff i had to hand.

But hey, hopefully itll be done by Friday and ill have a working one running and on the car with video footage to accompany it.

Well as promised heres my prototype the lights are off in this picture (since i thought i took a video to show them off but the camera didnt work )

In this picture there is no cover over the LED's, it was mearly a test on compatibility.

The backing is sprayed black (as its the only colour they had at work) but i will be offering colour coding as previously mentioned.

Ill try get a video back up 2moro of them in action but i will say in the flesh they transform the back end of the car (and the brightness is ridiculous )

Ive just changed the picture on the last post to video instead. Still havent had chance to put it on the car again but this gives you a very clear idea of what they will look like.

Again, the PCB still isnt sat flush into the holder (otherwise its a sh1t to take out and i need to try the rest in it ) but it will be in the final one.

Just to let everyone know the prototype one i fitted to my car looks and ive just finished cutting, printing and painting the first full set for my coop.

LED's to be soldered in on Wednesday and pictures to follow as soon as ive mounted them

Well Thursday is here and still no video (due to work commitments sadly)

I can reveal however that all the LED's are in place on their speed red backing and they just need the resistors in now.

I can quite definitively say drilling 320 individual holes and soldering 320 LED legs in NOT much fun, but itll all be worth it

Well all four boards are now complete, two are mounted and im just waiting to seal the glass on the front of them.

The other two will be mounted and sealed Friday, so just wait til the South Meet to see what people think i guess!!!

How long will it take you then pfoe once the lights are done to start churning them out. Cant wait for pics when you have completed them.

Now ive hit a brick wall with them theyre all boards are all looking sweet and working, but...

Mounting them tidily is an arse.

I cut apart the old light cup unit so i could fit the board and mount clear glass on it but the cup just cant be made to look nice

I think i might need an alternative holder, anyone any ideas.

Hollow with a 90mm bore anyone?

I can scratch a "E" on there if you like, I have a little engraver machine that I only used to put my postcode on a bike

I would love to fulfil this GB the issue however is that i cant get good light cups made.
The standard ones require such mutilation its not even worth it.
I did make up some temporary clear rear lenses but they werent going to end up being a nice enough solution for me to proceed.

I do still however have some boards kicking around so if anyone knows anyone in the vacuum forming business let me know.
