Hi
Had a new head unit and I'm now looking at replacing the rears.
I'm going to go the 6x9 route for the rears and I already have new infinity's for the fronts.
I want the front's and rears driven by an amp.
However I do not want this visible, is there any way of positioning an amp some where it will not be seen ? Would a small amp fit behind the rear panels where the speakers go ?
If so which amp ?
Cheers guys

i'm sure it would be posible, but as sugarbear has said adjustment would be a pain to get back out. Amp suggestion, genesis profile series, small 7 compact good power

Could you not mount one behind the carpet in the boot (where the rear quarters are) It would then not be visible but still access to adjust.

Got an amp, JBL, smallish foot print so will be having a go at hiding it somewhere. The Infinity speakers I bought were out of stock, I was offered a free upgrade which I took http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-jbl-t595_p-22431.htmHowever, these speakers are huge, will these still in the rear ?

Cars in bits now apart from the drivers seat.
Got both the speakers in, it is a tightish fit as the JBL's are massive.
Got a Farenheit Class X amp going in tonight to run them, only place I could find to mount it is screwed to the back seats.

Keeping with the flavour of this thread...if the amp is powered directly (looked at relevant thread) from the battery does it constantly take power and drain the battery? I have used the Ciggy lighter for the HU and obviously don't want the same issue with the amp. Apologies if this is another daft question.

Aint most set ups run directly from the battery? Shouldnt be no problem. As soon as the HU is switched off the amp looses remote signal there for no power light. May be wrong but ive never woken up to a dead battery

Isn't it a bad idea to stuff an amp into a confined space, or cover it with carpet as it will need to dissipate the heat it generates.

Yes very true mattb especially if your running the amps fairly hard on a hot summers day, they tend to cut out. Screw into the back of the seat tends to be the best place.

if you dont want the amp visible in the boot, there is space for a small ish amp behind the 60% side of the rear seat, inside the cockpit between the seat and the bulkhead.

Thanks all, I have decided to start from scratch and re-wire for all speakers inc sub and fit an amp. Will also carry out the 6x9 change and sound proof the door/quarter panel. Just wish I had a clear warm garage to do it all in!!
Stupid question No2, to amp the fronts, backs and sub...do I need a 4 or six channel amp?

Another change of plan, have installed the Amp under the passenger seat and its only a two channel Alpine. But I have really enjoyed the install so far, with only the Drivers side to do I feel confident that tomorrow will be a little easier than today...

Well it's all done... thanks for the advice chaps I have left the cables all long enough to reach the boot if heat becomes an issue (Looking at the space it probably will). Very happy with the sound but have realised it's not just a case of plonking it in, I now have to start twiddling to get the sound just right. Next purchase will be to prepare for the back speaker install and full sound proofing. Rock on the Summer!

I have read loads on here ref the sound proofing and intend to do the doors and rear quarter panel area (backseats) as well.
Think I'll leave the tweaking until the back speakers are fitted, they are seriously letting the cars sound down at the min but think my wife would take a knife to me if I spend any more money on it...
Thanks again.
