Picked up my car from Auto Alfa in Gothenburg today after a exhaust manifold replacement. According to the mechanic, he drove the car for a test drive just about 1 hour before I arrived and locked it with the remote locking.

As I was about leave, the alarm fob would not unlock the car. I took the fob apart, cleaned it up on the inside and swapped batteries. But no luck.

I borrowed an old Merc and went home to pick up my spare fob (which I tried in november when I bought the car) and drove back to the Garage. Tried to unlock with my spare fob but with no luck, still no response from the remote locking system.

Instead, I unlocked the car using the key and the alarm set off. Using the small alarm disabler key in the slot in the glove box, I was able to turn it off. When I re-enabled the alarm, it would set off again.

Anyone knows what can be wrong? Is there a fuse or something for the remote locking? Where is it located? Any other ideas?

PS. I've got a Meta M100RC system.

The alarm is almost certainly a Meta M99TFA.
The remote control fob is Meta M100RC.
the box for the meta should be up above the fuse box,the one under the steering wheel, our as your are over there it might just be in front of the side lights on the right hand side as you look at the car,

Have a look here Rask

Carl Baker is the man for Meta alarms - have used him for my TVR and people on here have used for the coop. Probably worth giving him a call to chat through the problem - he can re-code the alarm/add new fobs etc via post, which may be ideal for you.

Good luck getting it sorted \:\)

You are probably right regarding the alarm, I guess it is a Meta M99xxx (how do you know if it is a T2 or a FTA by the way?).

My problem now is to locate the box (spent about 10-15 minutes trying to find something up and around the fuse box). Looked at the passenger side, pulled the footwell carpets to see if there was anything at the sides, checked on the sides in the boot... Simply can't find it... \:\?

I do have a LHD vehicle and maybe it's different for me?

What did you mean by in front of the side lights, btw?

Looking at EPer it seems like it might reside behind the rear seat trim panels but I don't remember seeing it when I changed the speakers and added insulation back there...
