Hi, I'm looking at buying a Coupe soon and I've been snooping around this site for a little while. I see that you can get a ready-made chip for the 16VT. However, I like to do my own mapping. Does anyone offer the hardware/software to allow you to map your own ECU?

Vas is your man is you want to go for the custom mapping. He should be able to tell you where to get the software from and what you will probably need.

hi, got the PM, better reply here:

you need TunerPro (freely available, donation preferred) with the right XDF (definition file) for your ECU (our ecus are similar to integrale EVO2, nuova delta, some 155s etc)
decent info shared (occasionally...) on community.prograle.org

You also need an eprom burner (30-50quid max from ebay) must support 27C256 chips in DIP form
A few chips (either UV eraseable or get electrically eraseable SST 27SF512 and skip spending 20quid for an UV eraser)

That's all really, means you can be editing bins and burning chips for under 100quid.

HOWEVER:
you may break your engine really quickly unless you know what AFR/boost/EGT you are running.
If you want to be able to do some decent experimentation, you should fit the following:
wideband lambda probe and AFR meter (200+ quid)
EGT probe + display (50-150quid)
boost gauge (around 30quid min)

So the under 100quid project becomes 400quid unfortunately.
I'd recommend some sort of knock detection system (probably diy search on the innovate site for one)
Having most of that, I can assure you moding bins is not that easy. Too many parameters to edit with conflicting effects on each other.

You may also opt for realtime editing, spend less than 200USD and get the excellent Ostrich2.0 from moates.net

And spend a lot of time reading/understanding them bins you'll pick up around the web ;\)

[hiding waiting for JohnS and co lecturing on RR sessions by pros-which I agree but takes the fun away...]

Hi Vas. Great reply, thanks. Oh and I just PM'd you the same info again. Please ignore it!

I quite agree, RR with pros takes the fun away, amongst other things. Alot less bloody hassle though!

Speaking of bin editing I'm trying my hand at deciphering Renault Clio bins at the moment. Like you said, not exactly easy.

Here's my current car. 100% built and mapped by myself.

Will eat an Evo for breakfast.

Incidently, should be up for sale for soon - or swap for a 16VT \:D

I've searched http://www.community.prograle.org/ (with babelfish!), and also the web in general for Fiat and Integrale bins or xdf files with no luck. Where do you find them?

Cheers! Never did a 1/4. 0-6 was 7 secs. Would have been low-mid 6 if I could put the power down in 2nd!

Just sold it for £2500. Just enough for a decent 16VT with some left over for parts! ;\)

Hi Vas,

Is this 16v-wh4w.08-90k-9b-progralev2.xdf the correct definition file for our 16v turbo with Tunerpro Free?

Cheers,

Well it seems to work with the Lancia bin I have (EVO2-WH4WG[1].P8.216.01.BIN). But the maps shown are gibberish. For example the fuel map is just full of '255'. Not sure if I just have a bad bin file. What I need is an actual Fiat Coupe 16VT bin. ANyone got one??
