Ive got the Scorpion fitted. It changes the character of the standard engine note and makes it more Audi Quattro like. Burbles nicely at tickover and goes super quiet at motorway speeds to the extent that you can't hear it all while cruising. There is some booming/droning at 2000rpm but all single silencer cat backs will do this without exception IMO. I think it could possibly be improved by a second straight through silencer after the cat. I wasnt convinced at first but I quite like it now.

Would you say it could be quite loud when flooring it, if the scorpion had a de-cat?

Decats make it much louder. Way too loud for me.

They also could invalidate your insurance so watch out.

Yes I'm fully aware of the pros and cons of De-catting, thankyou I want to revel in that sound Taffy20VT took me out in his coupe which has a 3" powerflow system and no cat and the sound is something else

Sorry if I'm going over something that has been discussed before, but what are the options for a budget performance exhaust system (cat back)

I'm going to be looking for a free-flowing 'zorst probably next month, and will have a budget of probably no more than £300. The most suitable system so far appears to be the Scorpion system as used by Bernie20VT, at a cracking £265 plus P+P.

I'd love a blueflame or similar but I don't think I will get one within budget?

This looks like excellent value, Just £245 and it's stainless.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FIAT-COUPE-16v-20v...1QQcmdZViewItem

Anyone had experience of this system?

Anyone there I heard that Cybox is peco, there's been problems with peco exhaust systems on the coupe IIRC?

There's been problems with the rear bracket hanger in the past and some inconsistency with fitment quality. The rear hanger design is a bit of a bodge IMO, like a universal fit thing you'd buy in Halfords. I'd go with the Scorpion or better still drive to Essex and get the Pipecraft one. Thats a great system for £220 and sounds

Essex is just too far for me, factor in fuel, food and drink during the stops and I'd probably be able to afford a blueflame!

I think I'll give the cybox a wide berth and go with the scorpion Bernie says it's "loud enough to wake the dead" in an earlier post which should p*ss the neighbour's off no end

Blueflame will probably knock one up cheaper than that scorpion price to be honest If you can give them a bell?

Blueflame cat back is about £320 IIRC and their sports cat is about £220.

Only heard good things about the Pipecraft so getting a catback fitted on Thursday. About the same price as a Supersprint so hopefully a better buy.

I wonder if they have them "off the shelf" to sell or if I'd have to be there personally

If it's the Pipecraft you're on about Pinin it's a custom fit job so they need your car for the best part of a day.

the blueflame is great, shame about their piss poor customer service.

they simply dont want to sell any systems.

i dont even think they have any available.

if they could be bothered to make some they may well sell a few systems.

Wouldn't argue with that.

Busa's sounded mint when I met him last year but when I put my feelers out to their factory a few weeks back they made me feel they were doing me a favour by answering the phone and speaking to me.

From what I could see from the Blueflame office when I popped in to get a race cat fitted, there is only 2 people in- a girl who types up the invoices and a guy who is constantly on the phone !

It is a great engineering workshop though and they are bloomin busy but when you get a race cat fitted to your system for £200 you cant complain

Booming/droning is the uncomfortable resonance you get from large exhausts running at low revs. The exhaust resonates the bodywork and the air in the car moves back and forth rapidly and vibrates your ear drums. It disappears as the revs climb.

Pay attention Pinin. I stated that further up the thread The Pipecraft one is the Rog sourced exhaust

Unfortunately, you need to go and have it custom fitted, no courier option.

I can vouch for the Miltek. Fits like a glove to the car, quality construction, lifetime guarantee and a pleasant burble - more than a Supersprint but less than a de-cat Blueflame.

Miltek is a bit too pricey and quiet for a chav like me. I only use the coupe as a toy - no commuting. Heck, the low rev drone is welcome

I know Bernie20VT has it but can't post up any pics. Bernie - if you want to send them to me I will host them.

I'm going to go for the Scorpion too, it's a stainless steel system made by a reputable company, for £270 and it sounds pretty sweet too, by all accounts.
