Mine doesn't have aircon / climate.

IIRC in addition to the buttons (mine doesn't have these either \:\) ), there's also a seperate setting on the heater control dial. \:\)

If it is an early 20V N/A then you could fit the VIS system onto the engine but the bang for buck probably doesn't make it worth it. VIS adds a LOT of extra low down torque.
Stilo Abarth 2446cc bottom end bolts straight on (in fact a complete engine does minus the sensors). I've seen a stilo abarth engine go for 400 quid
Higher compression ratio probably would work well as they are relatively undertuned.

Hi John,

Out of interest can you explain what VIS is?

Cheers

Dave

stands for variable intake system I think. It is a copy of Porsche's varioram as was on the 993 engines. It adjusts the length of the intake dependent on load and rpm. Basically the inlet is made much longer at low rpm which creates much more torque and shorter at high rpm to maximise airflow. To use it you need the loom, ecu and sensors off a late 20V car as well as the VIS inlet itself.
You can tell if you have it already or not by looking at your engine. If you have a black plastic engine cover that says Fiat 20V VIS then you have it \:\) otherwise you do not. Generally I think MY98 onwards cars have it (but it might be MY99). It is also on the Fiat Bravo HGT 2.0 phase 2 which I believe all the parts are compatible from.

Thanks John, as informative as ever! I guessed that was the acronym but wasn't sure and didn't know what it meant, thanks for the description \:\)

My 2 cents.

Besides what the people had already said:

you could change your fabric 3 bar FRP for one that you can regulate yourself till 4bar for example;

You can search for a complete used 20T Cylinder head that comes already with bigger valves and swap it as it is since it's Plug&play and maybe scrap away 0.5/1mm;

If you do this you still can change the injectors and regulate everything on a live-map.

ITB would be a big step forward but only if you use the car for competiotion...but would be nice \:D

actually the 20VT head does NOT have bigger valves than the 20V NA head.
