I have a GTEC 1 chip in mine, and I have run on Regular unleaded for the last 6 months and it hasn't blown up yet.

I tried BP Ultimate, but couldn't tell any difference, except in price.

My standard 20VT will run happily enough on 95 Ron. However it runs noticibly smoother on Vmax. Hates BP ulitimate. I always put Vmax in now, if its available. Coupe just seems to run better on it.

You can run 95 Ron with a Gtec1. Only if you use Gtec2 you should use higher octane.

I read an article in a swedish mag and they tested a Porsche Carrera S with 355 hp engine. They tested 95, 98 and V-Power. Porsche recommend that you use 98 octane.

Result (crank hp):
95: 351.7 hp
98: 354.6 hp
V-Power: 362.1 hp

Trouble with that video is, that the cars can detect what the fuel is down to using knock sensors and certain functions within the ECU, whereas the 16v/t doesn't and cannot remember if the 20v/t does or doesn't

About a year ago, I was running the Monaro on standard u/l, and I was ready to book it into a rolling road because it simply didn't feel like a >400bhp car. Then one day I filled it with Tesco 99RON,and the difference was immediate and really noticeable. Now, the PH boys don't reckon the car can make use of the higher grade petrol to any real extent, but I know that it felt so much better afterwards (and I wasn't even expecting it to but thought I'd try it anyway) that I only ever put Tesco 99 in it now unless I have no other option.

V Power the benefits are there...

I feel the benefits more on my Tipo 2.0 16v unit with the idling and low power traffic driving but perhaps that is because its older or just more stroppy

Well lets put it like this. I ran my car reguarly on optimax. Then the shell garage moved and was replaced by a texeco, as it was on my route I filled up there. With 95 ron and my car instantly sounded and felt like a tractor. If it doesnt make that much of a diffrence then why did that happen. PS always runs better on shell than that BP ultimate too. Maybe not more power but most definitely runs smoother....
