My HID kit still hasn't arrived grr

The Osram Nightbreakers have certainly perked up the main beam though, but that just means it's even worse when I switch to dip laugh Might have to change the bulbs over until this kit arrives.

I think after fitting HIDS to your dip beam, there will be no point doing the fogs...as the dip will be that good. Mine are awesome !

fitted my hid,s today dipped beam. much brawness laugh yipee
strait forward smile the only issue i had was relocating the clip that holds the bulb, very fiddly for me as i,ve got big hands laugh long nosed pliers thumb i took my time & cleaned things as i went along. all in all took me 2 3/4hrs.
i did one at a time so i could compare love wee note.... as said in fitting guide ...on passengers/side the flat intake pipe. make sure you line up the box so it doesnt hit it shocked
nearly forgot...you will need to source self tapping screws, the bolts&nuts supplied are no good

sorry cant do pics..best way to describe is... drivers/side keep the box to the left vertically near to the top of black plastic housing.....passenger/side keep the box near to top horizontal, this will insure missing flat intake/pipe laugh...........i must get the soninlaw to show me pics sometime cool best of luck.....it really is quite easy, ive got little patience so if i can do it anyone can laugh
jings how sad am i, its getting dark here & i,m looking for an excuse to go out in the coop & test out the new lights rolleyes

Just fitted the second set of HIDs to the main beams...

Really really unbelievably good value for money!! laugh

Makes a great difference to night time driving -
dips are great with the main beams being like a big "daylight" switch to hand!!

Only thing is when flicking on the full beams they take a sec or 2 to reach full brightness.

Here's where i fitted the ballasts .

Fitted mine today, installation went with no real problems whatsoever. Like someone said in an earlier post, the only part of the installation that might make you think was feeding the bulb wire through the bulb retaining clip in the light housing, but if you remove one side of the clip, then bend it over the bulb wire and slot the clip back in its place...it isn't an issue, job done!
Ballast positioning i just slipped the bracket under the reae light housing mounting screw...sturdy enough and the positioning just misses the various engine obstacles.

Nice day (at last) today so decided to fit my HIDs, instalation went really well, thanks to everyone on here who posted "how to's" (especially karlos475 for ballast positioning). Took me around 4/5 hours to do both hi and lo beam and I'm so pleased with these, for the price you can't beat em thumb

They didn't even blow my fuses... although I did replace them with 20A ones after the first switch-on (forgot to pick up 20A fuses, had to go find a garage...arghh).

I used self-tapping screws rather than the bolts provided, but other than that all the bits were in the boxes, can't fault the purchase at all.

Just a quick question,

Do the ballasts generate any significant heat when they're on? Only asking because I don't plan on using the brackets to attach the ballasts to the car, just some strong sticking pads.

If the ballasts get hot, they might warm up the adhesive and they might fall off shocked

Might fit HID's to the main beams this evening smile

mine get warm, but not really hot, so I guess you'd be ok with the sticky pads. The ballasts are quite heavy though so get good quality adhesive.

The other thing I was thinking of was using the side "holes" in the bonnet with some long cable ties, but the self tapping screws were less hassle smile

I was going to use self tapping screws under the headlight assembly but there is already an older set of HID's there and the only place left for me to attach the bracket is close to the front of the light case where there is little distance between the underside and the topside of the plastic holding the lens.

I can't see how to attach the brackets to the side of the bonnet without drilling into the metal. I don't have any holes there, just the large triangular gaps in the framework of the bonnet itself.

I'll start off with the adhesive and see how I get on.

Yes, to mount them on the side of the bonnet with self-tapers (or the bolts supplied) you would have to drill holes in the inner bonnet metal, it's quite easy as long as you don't push too hard and go right through to the outer skin. I only had to drill 3 holes as the brackets share the middle hole.

Hi guys, just thought I'd share a slight problem that has manefested itself over the last couple of days. Was getting a "clunking" sound under braking, thought it was allsorts (paranoid coop owner now), but on checking brakes, suspension, etc., turns out that the mounting brackets on these are c**p and under braking my ballasts were moving to-and-fro in the brackets and "clunking" against the inner bonnet metal. I've now wrapped the things together with duct tape and re-mounted them... no bad noises now, so you might want to keep this in mind when fitting. rolleyes

Cheers
Steve

9 days to arrive and now fitted to full beam and able to compare them with group buy 50 s i fitted on dipped...

Absolutely a bargain at little over the price of a couple of bulbs ,, well impressed and they even stuck the labels on left hand and right hand which is way above attention to detail !!

Just to confirm that I have tried to mount the ballats with the cable ties using the holes in the bonnet and both sides hit on the airbox near side and the same area on the off side.

Also, does anyone elses ballasts buzz when there on? just curious. Also standard 15amp fuse hasn;t blown as yet.

Are these 35w or 55w? I've been reading through some old HID threads and some fccukers have said the 35w don't come up as bright as they thought they would...

now i know i've got some funky electrical problems with my car and need a new battery

but ..

I have HID's to the diped only (main beam are still standard)

has anyone else had a problem where they have turned the Main beam off and instead of going back to just the HID's on dipped the whole lights have turned off shocked
Very scary when youre hurtiling along a cuntry road with main beam on and then a car comes the other way and you turn your main beams off and all your lights go out!

I think its proberly the electricals on my car as i've had many many problems with the electrics but am curious to if anyone else has this issue.
