Classic website!!! It is rather good isn't it PM your email and I'll send you a copy of a 'best of' picture slide that went round work a while ago. Lots of classic ones including the 'erection deck' on a boat and 'freshi fanny'! hahaha. It is always worth taking a look on engrish for a laugh though, some of it is hilarious! I've got my HIDs in now along with a set of sidelights bulbs for £2.80 off ebay and it looks very good indeed. I've got an issue with my lights' alignment at the moment as posted in another thread but when sorted, i have nio doubt these little fellas will be very good. A great little mod for a great price (just make sure you DO NOT reconnect the light adjuster cable or they will start dipping at the most inopportune moments... read pitch black road with one car length of lights

which one is the light adjuster cable? i havnt took mine off. Looking at the bottom of the light there is a large plastic lump with a small white dial on it. The cable that goes to this is the adjuster supply, the other cable is power to the lights. The white dial is the manual adjuster for the lights... mine needed a few turns to bring the lights up to the legal limit and is now functioning a lot better These lights make the car look a lot more modern.

Just fitted mine last night. I am so impressed for £35!! The last set I bought was a few years ago for my Ibiza Cupra 20VT and it cost me £300, stunned that I can now by a set of equal quality for just £35. Think I will be buying a set for my van next. Well impressed.

Anybody else still having probs with these cheap HID's? When I switch to full-beam it's basically a gamble as to whether one light comes on, both lights or neither I seem to get what can be described as a dull camera flash on one side as the bulb tries to charge up. It lights for a millisecond. I basically have to keep flicking the headlight stalk from dipped to main-beam to force the lights to come on (from cold bulb.) Once the bulbs are heated they'll flick on and off perfectly. It's a bit frustrating as I drove home the other night with only one light on. The problem is more noticeable when I turn the lights on when the car is idling but stationary. Perhaps its something to do with the alternator and the varying voltage. It's a pain because when I do my MOT the car will be stationary and the lights probably won't come on I have 20A fuses fitted as there is an existing older set on HID's fitted on the car. They work fine. Maybe I'll get a quick video done to show you what I mean.

jap s 55 w on dipped on fully in seconds ...
cheap 35 w on fully in around ten seconds ...
just get used to keeping them warm and they re fine despite having Trappy s doubts before fitting them myself

The ballasts are very sensitive to current/voltage surges and drops, they have safety cut-offs to stop them being damaged by this sort of thing, I guess the wiring is transmitting a surge when you turn off the main and causing the dipped to trip off.
Mine do it if I try and start the car with them on, which isn't surprising when you think how much the voltage must be flying about. Turn them off for a few seconds and they clear and come on normal.
Ioksotot, was it a full or dipped beam bulb that went, as many people have mentioned with full beams the time taken from firing to full light output makes them prohibitive, but another not so well known point is that frequently turning them on and off without giving them time to come up to temperature (+1 min) severely shortens bulb life. I'm surprised it took out the ballasts though, have you tried them now they've had a few days to fully discharge? Might be worth a shot...

Hi Superfly It was the dipped beam (O/S) that went, when I eventually removed the bulb it was noticably black and charred (just couldn't see this because of the lense in the headlight). Tried the ballasts on the working bulb today and they're both still dead Ironically, the set that were on the high-beams are absolutely fine, now working on the dipped beams well.

I might actually leave full beams as normal halogens as the delay on the HIDS does make life a bit too interesting Has anyone tried to match the colour with the brighter halogen bulbs? My standard bulbs are really yellow compared to the HIDs, had the same with my sidelights, but replaced them with LED versions and these look great with the HIDs. Does anyone have the 90% Night Breaker bulbs fitted (a bit pricey I know @ £23 for a set), will invest if they look whiter than standard though?

I've got some fairly blue coloured 100W bulbs as my mains, and even they hardly make a difference, and look quite yellow still! But yes, the LED sides match 6000k HID's perfectly.
Guess it's a choice of practicality or looks...

I must admit I've just replaced my hi-beam HIDs with Osram Nightbreakers just because of this daithi, was getting a bit scarry while driving at night. The Osram's are quite good, not a patch on the HIDs for luminosity but they match the "whiteness" quite well and are 100 times better than the standard halogens. If you're thinking about doing this, everywhere else is selling these for about £18 each bulb, but I found these guys that are selling them for £18.60 for a set of 2, and free postage.
