Hi all,
After leaving my 20vt for a week while I went on holiday the battery died, despite deactivating the alarm. The AA chap and I managed to decypher the emergency start procedure and get it going. However, the code light now stays on and the car won't start without the emergency start procedure. Not fun. My local (Newcastle) stealership want £45 to put it on the diagnostics and reset the code, which seems steep to me. A local Alfa specialist wants £47. Do you think it's worth shopping around further or is this about par for the course. Cheers M'dears.

You've tried disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and then trying again?

Do you have the red key?

Haven't tried the battery disconnection this time. Will try again. I have the red key. Do you think it's a coding problem? I got the impression it was supposed to do this?
Thanks

It's a problem that occurs sometimes after the battery is disconnected and then reconnected, the system gets confused. Disconnecting the battery again and then reconnecting *usually* sorts the problem, failing that use the red key.

If all else fails there's a few people on here who can sort out the immobiliser issues permanently, do a search \:\)

Disconnected the battery, went to turn it over but the battery had died again.. Jump leads, anyone?! Would I be right in thinking that if I connect jump leads, THEN use the red key, I'll be on a winner? Fingers crossed!

Managed to get it started using the red key after disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and jump leads. The code light has stayed on throughout though. Will I need to hook it up to diagnostics to sort this. Fingers crossed it'll start this morning! I'd really rather spend the £47 on fuel!

Quick update- The little bugger started first time with no code light on using the red key. Might treat it to a wash . Thanks for your valuable input
