I've got a standard LE, done about 55k miles, and I'm looking to upgrade the suspension. I want it to feel a little less 'boat' like.

I won't be tracking the car, I just want to upgrade 10 yr old suspension.

What would you recommend as a decent road set-up without it being rock hard?

Ideas for sub £1,000 expenditure welcome.

Billies and Eibachs - probably the most common Coupe setup

Will be somewhat firmer than standard though

If you just want less float, keep the standard springs and just fit Billies

Bilstien + whitleine 22mm rear arb should improve things without messing up the ride. What do people think?

IMHO Bilstiens actually make the ride nicer and improve the handeling. Can't comonet personaly on the ARB as I havn't had mine fitted yet, but I hear good things...

New wishbones, ARB bushes and track rod ends should help too on a car with 55k...

Yep, just fit the Billys and keep your standard springs, thats how the coupe should have come out of the factory if you ask me \:\)

I have billies, standard springs (new), upper and lower strut braces, and a 24mm rear ARB. Works for me.

Bilstein B6 and Eibach springs. Go for it!
22mm rear ARB is good for balance but will do nothing for better comfort.

Got myself a 20vt recently, Portofino blue, fastest car I've owned, brilliant fun. According to the forums here first thing to do to improve handling is a strut brace. Suspension needs a few new bits as its quite 'boaty' so may add Bilstien dampers too as recommended.
Where's the best place to source these? I see a strut brace on eBay @ £120? need a front grille too as mine is cracked.

Thanks AH, new to this, Alternative Autos had what I needed.
Do all 20vt's torque steer so much when the turbo kicks in?

Terry, you've selceted the 20v NA avatar

Mine didn't torquesteer that badly at all. It depends on what you're comparing it too really... Some cars with a lot less power don't cope as well as a coop. A few of the mods above will help it no end \:\)
