Ok thanks guys, what was the cut off between the old 20V and the VIS coming in? ie. what year/month etc. I am thinking of joining you N/A types you see, but want the VIS for that little extra kick, all 7 BHP of it! Anything else I should look at with these engines apart from the obvious oil/ water/ history etc. Any noises to listen for for example? Is the power delivery uniform? Blah blah blah!

I haven't owned a coop with the vis engine yet but my experience of owning a coop 20v na (non vis) has been fantastic :O) It performs superbly and i have had no problems at all, oil pressure is great, lowest it goes is 2 bar at a very hot idle (think hot summer day, stuck in traffic, stop start), usually sits around 2.5 maybe bit higher now the winter is setting in. Plus it sounds really really good, lots of people spin their head round when you give it the beans, love to have my window open in the summer to hear her sing lol, hope this helps mate.

Regarding the power delivery, it definitely performs at its best higher up in the rev range where you can hear the engine note change and performance increase when the second cam comes in but it is a very smooth transition. Also, if you get one, dont be afraid to get it high up in the revs once its nice and warmed up as it comes alive :O) Obviousely it's not as quick as the 20v turbo but then you dont have to warm it up, cool it down like the turbo and is less troublesome, it represents a very good all-round engine.
