I swore it would never be me making this post.
But here is how my coupe sits tonight
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t122/XxxhgtxxX/Image029.jpg
Although she is now outside my home.
Before you all shout at me...it wasent my fault.

I was going round an island and a white van pulled out infront of me blocking my path completely. I tried to swerve round it but clipped it with the back end of my car and it sent me heading straight for a very large lamp post.
The van driver then proceeded to leave without leaving any details.
Police came...looked at CCTV from the services where the van driver had pulled out and the van is registered to a traveller area in Wales. So basically im screwed.
Police agree im completely in the right, but doesnt help much without the other party.

\:\(

Am so unbelieveably gutted i think you'd be hard pushed to find anyone...even on here that loves their coupe more than i do. Might not look all that bad in the pik but that wheel is a huge amount back, to the point its creased the sill back. Neither door opens or closes properly.

Bye bye S539 OHG may you rest in peace. And thank you for the good times.

Chassis is twisted. So it is kind of beyond that point. \:\(

Anything can be repaired if you have the money . . .

Really gutted for you though. If you don't want to claim through your insurance - you can try the MIB.

Bloody scum. Impressed by the police though, getting on that CCTV footage and tracking the number plate already.

A real shame. °\(

The wishbone is still intact...all the bending is in the chassis....that kind of tells you how bent it is. So the cost of making it straight again will far far outway the cost of buying another. Nevermind the fact its left all its oil behind...so the sump is destroyed so there will be considerable engine gearbox and other damage.

I'll see whats said. Am waiting for the insurance company to see what they say. I'll try and take some better photos tomorrow to actually show how bad it is.

Just for note...air bags hurt. However least you can be sure it will go off if you need it. Even if it is over 10 years old.

Amazed they even went off chris \:\)

I reckon they will write it off, the damage looks beyond economical repair but you never know, fingers crossed it'll be in for repair before the end of the month.

Good to hear you're Ok anyway

Think the gap on the door were you can see through to inside shows the twist! Gutted for you mate and hope the culprits get caught before they vanish to another site!

Thanks fella. I'll get under tomorrow and start seeing whats what. Then see what the insurance say. But i have got a whole front subframe with suspension and everything... driveshafts.. gearbox... intercooler...even a new front bumper and many many more parts in my spare room. Have to see how bad the body is and decide.

If the wheel has pushed back into the sill, there's a high chance that the roof will be kinked, just above the leading edge of the B pillar

I assume the passenger door had been opened - if not, the gap between the door frame and the A pillar is a sure indication its twisted beyond easy repair

Passenger door opened itself Nigel \:s

Thats why i came to the conclusion i did about the shell being twisted.

The windscreen cracked aswell which normally means that the A pillar is bent and pushed back which is a good sign that it aint ever going to be straight again.

I guess all you can hope for is that they find the other driver, he gets charged with leaving the scene of an accident and that you get a good price for her \:\(

^^^ What He Said ^^^

If the van had been registered to a business or a private home, was taxed and insured then you could be sure the police would have been far more positive that they could follow it up

they'll find the van, but it'll probably be uninsured and no one will own up to driving it, then the owner will have 10 people to give him an alibi that he wasn't driving... It's just a typical scenario with travellers. \:mad\:

Hope you get the insurance sorted and are back on the road soon HB \:\)

Thats pretty much what the police said to be honest. Though to be fair they were very good.

Just hope it all gets sorted quickly.

Nothing will stop me driving a coupe though.

To be fair to the police they put the plate into the number plate recognition system in Stratford as the van headed off in that direction and they said they were going to go to the local travellers spots and look for it. But like people have said. It's not an easy thing to nail a traveller. All the police can see is a white man with black hair getting into a van at the appropriate time leaving the services.
