I couldn't help but grin when a mate turned up with a real, real cheap HU and said it was better than my setup (Alpine double-DIN screen head unit hooked up to a Phoenix Gold ZX475ti amp) just because you could plug a usb stick into it. CD all the way. Depends who's encoded the mp3 though, different ways of doing it. But then by the time you've stuck the big exhaust on it, it gets harder to tell the quality. Any wonder Alpine demo cars for the real high-end kit (F1 status etc.) are top Mercs and the like?

Well, I have minidisc in the car atm, purely coz it's better quality (when converted properly) than mp3 plus I didn't want to trapse back and forth with CDs. These nice new memory card HUs without CD support are just the ticket for me.

I'm running 6x9s from theloudest.com in the back quaters, screwed to mdf cut to fit against the metal, sound deadened with eDead all round. They were pretty cheap but sound amazing, not much bass to them, but then I don't need them to be as I have a 10" JBL running off an amp from theloudest which claims 1500W, though I doubt that it does sound good through that sub. For the fronts I have stuck with the standards as I prefer to have the sound coming from behind me when I am driving, and those 6x9s are nothing if not loud.......

I am a little hesitant to upgrade just now as I am thinking of selling the coop this year:( She's 12 years old and I fancy something a little newer. All I have to do is get the funds together so....maybe next year...hehe
