yeah - its that kit just disks and some spacers for the existing calipers?
I am sure someone (highwayman?) was looking at something using different calipers - could be wrong though.

Subas rear brakes do not fit under a standard wheel (or else I would have had them ) Looking at the pics the discs fit under, the caliper plus mount push out too far. Chris

The Compbrake kit includes 4 pot fronts, and the rears are basically an uprated audi TT caliper, custom discs etc.. The rears don't fit under the standard wheel either.

Yes. Tarox is a complete kit that is a doddle to fit. and the discs never seem to wear out either as they are billet steel. Spray the grooves and bells first though, as they rust and 300mm orange discs look awful. Spray it with what though Rog?

I did a bit of searching and discovered that the Maserati Biturbo '81-'87 has the following brake discs: Location State Diameter Thickness Offset Holes FRONT, solid, 282, 13, 58.5, 4 REAR, solid, 272, 10, 60.5, 4 I'm hoping the PCD is 4x98... Using one of these discs (probably the fronts) we would need either an 18mm or 20mm spacer to fit the disc (remember coupe offset was 40.5mm). Do you think they might work? Don't worry they are not expensive discs either (€50/pair). https://sslrelay.com/buypartsby.co.uk/ebc-brakes/ebc-discs-display.php?recordID=4863Scrap this idea, it wont work

Surprising when you look at what there is to the kit in the picture. But I guess they may have had to invest quite a bit in making the right size discs (300mm x 11mm thick solid discs don't seem very common!).

Yes - add to that if you want to change the caliper (I would) then you also have to think about not just diameter clearance , but also how close to the spokes the caliper is going to be.
You are also limited in the choice of caliper as you have to have one that has the handbrake operation built in - unless you want to go for a separate spot caliper, which would cost a LOT of money (I looked into this).
Comp-brake have a template for a 290mm two piece solid disc and Audi TT rear caliper - if someone sent them a standard wheel and hub I'm sure they could have a go at making something up.

Out of interest suba, why would you change the caliper unless you have to? As far as I can see the Tarox kit uses the OE caliper and has had decent reviews. If compbrake do the discs then is it just a case of combining them with the same caliper spacers and sized pads as Tarox?

I guess that could work - if you gave them the measurements for the discs they could make them up.
The Tarox kit does use the OE caliper, presuambly as otherwise they could not get the kit to fit under the standard wheels. I dont think the issue is the just the disc - the standard calipers are the weak point.

re-read my second from third from last post on this thread - starts with the word 'yes'.
With my brake kit I'm sure that there are plenty of 17 inch wheels that would not fit!

Does anybody know much about the Tarox calipers for the 300mm discs? How are they larger yet use the OE caliper? ta

Does anybody know much about the Tarox calipers for the 300mm discs? How are they larger yet use the OE caliper? ta They use a bracket to move the caliper further out to make use of the outer edge of the 300mm disc

Cheers Begbie. So am I right in assuming that the pad size is the same meaning that the inner part of the disc is unused, but the outer part of the larger disc spins faster hence more braking force?

Could re-drill Golf V vented rears or TT vented rears I guess?
