hello to all !
my goal with coupe is simple :
fast road car.
I have had alfa 155q4 before, and that car was tuned to 325hp / 420nm / 1.4bar . it was ok, but the delivery of that power was not good. before 3500rpm there was nothing.
and then again on the upper, the standard cams were limiting the power down to that 325hp. ( head was standard )
so the good going feeling was between 4000rpm and 6500rpm.
now I want more power, and usable power between 3000rpm -7000rpm . when I sold my alfa, I always feel, that something needs to be done more on that 2.0 16v engine.

thats why I bought myself fiat coupe 16vt.
I have everyday car also ( volvo s40 1.6d -08 ) so I can do this car what I want.
first thing I think a new turbo, of course.
already bought myself a masterpower mp 810019 specs :
58,1mm compressor wheel, 56mm turbine wheel. turbine A/R .48 external gate needed.
friend has this same turbo already, alfa 155q4 car.
seems to be good, but there was still something missing
for my goals. wink
I had everything done to this setup, manifold, oil lines, and car was started too !
but I wanted more.
other things, what have already done to my car; new bonnett from glassfiber, weights 5,3kg. walbro of course is there, lancia delta integrale intake manifold, new fmic, and there is inlet and outlet on the same side. still have to make there some air guides, so all the air goes through the cooler. maybe this is the point, where I can list all the weight saving things, what I have done already.. so here they are :
front speakers - 1.0 kg
spear tyre+tools - 16.1 kg
stuff away from front - 3.1 kg
boot carpets, not all - 4.4 kg
delta intake manifold - 2.5 kg
original intercooler "plate" - 1.0 kg
rear viper+motor - 1.4 kg
bonnett - 25 kg
new battery - 13 kg
mitsu turbo+new manifold - 2.1 kg
new radiator fan - 2.6 kg

so far total is : - 72.2 kg

still standard interior, all the noise materials,
standard wheels...
oh and my car doesnt have A/C so theres easy 10-15kg more saving too. so the real total is near -85 kg already.

lets go back to the turbo!
so I have read good things about mitsu evo turbos ( the twinscroll ones )
in Finland there is some evo 9 cars with just 3" exhaust and chip, doing +400hp / 500nm / 1.5bar boost.
other good thing is spooling... they make 1.4bar / 3000rpm
and what I have read from evo forums, even with "race cams" the standard turbo is good.
thats why I wanted that turbo. and a just couple weeks ago
my friend from Italy makes some good numbers with this standard evo 9 turbo : 412,5hp / 1.55bar boost.
spooling was also very good; 2500rpm 0.6bar .
those results are with race cams.
I only have 239 degrees and 9.57mm lift NA engine cams.
I also gonna use TOMEI style exhaust manifold, because that seems to give best power and torque on that turbo ( at least on evo cars )
also, its with internal gate, but I´m gonna put it still with screamer pipe. why ? . results from evo forum are showing some +10 - 15whp more power, when using this.

I´m gonna do some test on this summer :

standard cams + 0.8bar boost
standard cams + 1.0bar boost

then new belt and new cams in :
NA cams and 0.8 bar boost
NA cams and 1.0 bar boost

so I can see difference, from cams..
I have G-tech pro RR, and that seems to be very good.
( I already used it with my alfa )
I put some photo links later here.

chip : DINK versions ( 2 different )
after going over 300hp, then local electronic man make me a new one ( with wideband.. he is good.. cool )

oh, rear brakes are standard, front there is better discs, and bads.
exhaust manifold is soon ready. well not ready yet, but here you can go and see some pictures of my car :
http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/dd72/jq4tm/

then some PRICES :

Mitsu evo 9 new turbo : 320 pounds ( 1350 pounds )
exhaust manifold : 40 pounds ( 440 pounds )
3" exhaust : 200 pounds ( 800 pounds )
fmic+alu pipes : 80 pounds ( 300 pounds )
17" wheels : 82 pounds ( 300 pounds )
blow+paint for wheels : 18 pounds ( 90 pounds )
delta intake manifold : 140 pounds --------
intake kit : 40 pounds --------
bigger oilcooler : 70 pounds ( 100 pounds )
fpr+electr.boost.cont : 50 pounds ( 130 pounds )

I have now started to make the interior more to my style ..
here is picture, still missing new seats etc..
http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/dd72/jq4tm/?action=view&current=080520091142.jpg

also, there is some job to do on the other side of my car ( previous owner parked to the wall )

back on the road.. here is new picture :

http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/dd72/jq4tm/?action=view&current=120620091245.jpg

have been done some measurements with G-tech RR

80kmh -120kmh 3 gear goes 4.0 sec
standard program cuts fuel 5200rpm laugh
0.8bar is used..
have to wait some time to get the carage for my use,
but after that I can measure some real tests.

I did some measuring today, just to check for myself
80-120kmh goes 4th gear 4,5sec
80-140kmh goes 4th gear 6,5 sec

and there are sparetyre, tools... ( 20kg extra )
boost around 0.8-0.9bar
cat still there ( standard )

so there has to be some good down torque on my car cool
4th gear is 2500rpm -3800rpm on that 80-120kmh run

5th gear same : 2000rpm -3000rpm and goes 7 sec
soon there will be 3month working time ( winter time )
so new seats are coming, cat replace pipe,
new program and 1.4bar and RR - finally !!

have to weight my car also..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpR75-XZkds

there is that 80-120kmh 4th gear run

censored....
everyone told me, that its ok to use NA cams+ standard turbo model pulleys, and timing like when you change the belt ...
well; in my case that cost me a bit more...

valves are broken ... cry

glad I have one spear head, but still it needs
more money and work, if I want to drive it this summer..

Engine started...

injector light goes off, but then after the start it goes on again... ?? why is it ?

there is new bigger injectors, is that the reason ?

otherwise... a little work, and should be ok..

Well well..

I have to chance the Dink 280 chip to 280+ .. laugh

car is running 12,3 - 12,5 afr between 3000-5000rpm and then boost starts going a little upper ( because of the wastegate.. going to work that later )
and afr goes +13 ...

boost was 1.0bar

I was thinking, that I could run 1.2bar with that setup, but .. maybe the car is breathing a little better with worked head and grale intake manifold .. and evo 9 turbo .. ?

well 280+ chip in and more tests..

RR is on day after tomorrow ... cool

I have make waterspray to my intercooler ..

costs around 13.5e and Results ..

min hp : + 4,1
min nm : + 12,5

max hp : 13,9
max nm : 29,8

average hp : + 7,6
average nm : + 20,6

measured with G-tech RR

same place, only difference is that waterspray for the second run. time difference around 5min, and weather + 30 c

That G-tech is always give me very good results
( I mean, very same what real dyno gives )

and yes I have Fmic .. but still that much more with that kind of money ...makes me smile smile

fuel pump mod is done, but there is no more fuel at all..

grr

and I´m at work so cant do nothing..
hopefully someone can give me some good advice on the other topic..

well if everything goes right, I´m going give some RR results next week .. cool

well something for the winter ..

its going to be fiat coupe 16vt V.I.S

laugh

I´m going to put there a pressure actuator to control the longer/ shorter way.
if this goes wrong, then I shall cut the manifold
and make it just for the shorter pipes, likes lancia kappa 16v turbo.

Some measurements from the V.I.S manifold.

plenum size is 1.5 time bigger, than delta integrale one.

short runners are about 5 cm from the plenum, and
5,3cm X 3cm after some minor modifications, on the engine side.
runner length is 20cm for the "power" mode.
runner length for "torque" mode is 45cm .

runner size for torque mode is 3,8cm from plenum.

with some calculations:

for torque mode the torque peaks at 2890rpm

for power mode the torque peaks at 5790rpm

Re: 16vt project 375-400hp [Re: ] #1130158

and when the boost peaks around 2900 rpm 1.4bar, the real torque peaks around 3400rpm .

so :

2900rpm
3400rpm
5800rpm

should give me some good useable torque all the rev range.

well the first torque peak cannot be seeing at RR because its going chance to the power mode a bit earlier. ( around 2600 - 2700rpm )

well well car wont idle nicely anymore, dont know why..

goes from 1000-1300rpm ( afr 13.8 - 16.5 ) and cold start is not as easy as it was.

Afr is right, when driving. ( 14.3 - 15.2 about )

accelarating; boost only 1.2bar / Afr 12.7 - 12.8

first I was thinking some air leak, but I still have my vacuum

AFR is 11.2 - 11.5 / boost 1.4bar. just a little more boost,
then thats ok.

cold start ok, but still having some issues with the running.

sometimes its ok, sometimes its 1000-1300rpm, and sometimes it just stays 1500rpm.

goes pretty fast again cool spooling is about the same, as with smaller housing.

hey, I´m loosing my brake fluids, could that be the master cylinder ? could that fluid go to engine somehow, with that connection on the intake manifold ? that could explain my weard idling ?

something for the winter... again .

this time a new exhaust manifold .. and why ? well of course, it has to be done to my new turbo .

Garrett gtb3576klnrv ( ball bearing, water cooled, vnt, compressor wheel is new design, with one blades from up to down no more like 6+6 wheels )

compressor wheel 50,3mm / 78mm antisurge housing.

control is going to be :

first with normal pressure clock, so it will spool good ( there is a screw to adjust the min and max opening of the vanes, to get the best spool, without surge )
then it will be overboosting at some point, no matter of the over 2.0 ar turbine, so at higher revs, there will be normal external wastegate.

hopefully getting this to rock about the same time, when the 2 bar ( 3bar upsolute ) map program is coming wink

Dink is missing... still dont have that 2 bar program for my car. frown anyway, yesterday first start after winter ( yes its still snowing, so what tongue ) starts easily, of course.. I have to make a new dp for the turbo, and new manifold. hopefully everything is rocking by summer, and will get some good data from the new turbo. I will leave the mitsu turbo still for me, if the garrett one is not as good as Im hoping.

Anyway, House is almost done, after that I´ll have to install new radiator hoses ( last summer one blow a part ) some Titanium exhaust wrap is waiting too etc, etc.. When the house is done, I have 33 m2 warm carage, and also 2 car place above that cool

My usecar subaru impreza diesel will have soon wrx exhaust, and new program too ( hope some 210-220hp ) cool
