At last, the Brembo caliper refurb i started sometime toward the end of 2007 shocked is finished and on the car! smile

After stripping them down, it just took me ages to get around to doing them, they sat in the garage for months untill i rediscovered them hiding under some old boxes, and thought i'd better finish the job!

on the carpet...

Die hard coupsters will notice, as intended, a slight colour shade change from the original silver, and the bolts and joiner brake pipe finished in black.

on the car...

In the sunlight the colour comes up a little, but is almost unnoticeable when its dull.

Subtle was what i was going for, as ,IMO, red has been done to death (and isnt very subtle either!), and i didnt want people to think i'd been watching fast and the furious too much or try and race me at every set of traffic lights....

Anyway, not entirley sure about the colour, so may refurb the set that came off (though dont hold your breath!) but it is growing on me.

Just though i'd share!

i had to get a machine shop to take out the pad guide screws as they were siezed in and rounded off.

i didnt have a problem with the brake pipe which joins each side of the caliper though, lots of people break this and have to get a new one made up.

When fitting, the solid brake pipe which attaches to the calliper at one end and flexi section at another broke, lukily i had new ones sitting there to go on (bought off another forum member - Thanks Ry smile !)

Thats about it.

as a side note, i paint strippered the callipers right back before using filler primer, spray can filler primer, primer, several coats of paint then, after attaching decals, laquer.

if doing again, if the calipers were in ok condition i'm not sure i'd bother using paint stripper, i'd probably just rub them down then spray can fill primer as neccessary if needed.

These look very good... i know what you mean about colour change, the original is kind of metallic silver whereas yours looks more alloy silver.
Did you have any trouble taking the pistons out or putting them back in and did you spray the internal sides whilst the caliper was split in two??
