Diesel cars only sell cheap when they are shagged out IMO.

Just dont buy an old diesel

Get at petrol and spend the spare money on getting drunk!

After going to see a 1.6 Brava and a 2.0 D Vectra i had no luck with any of them... the 1.6 Brava being a complete SHED!



Alas... i was going back to my parents house and drove past a local garage and there on the front, sat this Punto.

I thought...hmm too small for me but the £695 price tag seemed good.
So i stopped and looked. It was an SX version but still had elec windows, front fogs etc.

Sat inside and it seemed surprisingly comfy.
Odo. read 68,000 miles and the car had a FSH. The little garage let me take it for a drive and i was suprised how easy and nippy it was to drive apart from getting used to NO power steering (made it more fun!) The car was smooth and quiet and had everything i needed, MOT till Jan 2010, a CD player and a decent Toad alarm system.

A bonus was the sunshine roof missed that from my Maroon Coupe.

So yeah...to cut a long story short, i bought the car, so this is now my Runaround while i preserve the coupe before she breaks. Will be saving fuel whilst saving for the Cambelt etc to be done on the Coupe
Plan to keep the car around 6 months unless my finances improve before then.
Just received my member ship pack for FCCUK through the post too...ah well the stickers can go in the Punto

I very neary bought a Punto, but there was a 1.2 Bravo on a 51 plate for sale on here for £500 and I snapped it up for a daily driver, and for the Missus to learn to drive in.

ah thats a very tidy car. I saw a lovely Brava 1.8HLX for £800 but it was just too far away.
The punto is ideal as the 1.2 engine suits its size and im only on my own so just need the cheapest thing.

£500 for that. When are you selling up?

The Bravo is a little bit rough around the edges and has done 115k, but the engine is sweet and it drives ok.

It is also lowered.

I wasn't expecting a perfect car for £500 though.

I think a Punto would be a bit quicker due to its smaller size, but it's quite nippy most of the time.

Where it struggles is on faster roads like dual carriageways when you need to overtake.

This 1.6 Brava i went to see had 102k on the clock, but that was more than rough on the edges, it was damaged, misfiring and bald tyres. This was 700 quid on a P reg.

You got a BARGAIN!

I think you are right. It even has a full service history, and a fairly recent cambelt change.

It did need 2 new tyres, and needs thermostat.
I also have bought 2 lower arms for the front as it clonks over the bumps a bit.

Other than that it's pretty tidy. It handles better than my Coupe.

Like you say though there are some very Rough Bravo/a's about.

hi im thinking of parking my coupe up and buying a run around got offered a mk3 tdi golf for £350 but when i put it on the ramp it was rooted right out underneath so wont be having that one.
i need a new clutch in my coupe so might put a fmic in while im there if i can afford it.

The Fiat Bravo/Brava/Marea do take some beating when it comes down to value.

I think any £350 Golf is likely to be well used TBH.

There was a Y reg TD 130 Marea estate for sale up the road from me about 2 weeks ago, it was up for £600.

The only thing I could see wrong was that it was white

Well im now driving my Punto.

Good news is that my Coupe should be back on the road sooner than i thought as my finances are going to be better as of now!

Just going to save about £1500 to get the Clutch, Cambelt, Wishbones, other steering bits and a good service done at PowerItalia then it will be back on the road with almost all jobs done on it

I cant wait... annoying thing is, the Punto had very squeaky brakes on the way home tonight even when they weren't on?? TBI methinks!
