I'm starting this thread as an anti-negative thread, I'd just like to say I'm very happy with my coop. thumb

Any problems I've jumped on straight away with the help of the forum and the great advice I've been given to trace any problems. Anything beyond me the car has gone straight to Poweritalia to sort.

Consequently I get in the car when I need or want to, it starts on the button, runs perfectly, handles as well as any other car from it's era and looks good parked up when its not being driven.

Because of preventative maintenance it is not costing me the earth to run because everything that has needing doing is done, and anything that will need doing will be planned for as best as possible in advance.

So if your happy with your coop, the way it handles/looks/drives/the power here is the place to type it smile

im happy with my coop :-)
looks good, its quite fast, nice to drive, sounds good and since i have spent a fair wack fixing loads of stuff its feeling better :-)
needs more bits doing to it though and handdling sorting but other than that i really like the car.

the main issue i have with it is i have speed red which looks fantasic and 99% think its the best color and then a bloom yellow one with drive past and i want a yellow one lol.

well no i have always loved the coop just the heart ache it can cause is what makes people rant.
its like doing a supermodel. great fun and looks nice but you know it will either bugger off one day or break down. lol and before it does that it will cost you loads and give you a head / heart ache sometimes.

nice one austin....

i'm happy with my coupe as i was happy with the previous one i swapped with motormech for this plus....in fact, despite having a few niggly issues and dents/dinks/scratches/wheel refurb to sort i'm happier than ever. it's as standard, no mods or tricks and i've never been as happy with a car as i am today... love

That's great proccy,

The point is that you love your coop. You know the car has it's small shortcomings but you persevere none the less until the car is great. Nobody can be 100% on there cars history if you bought it second hand. But if you see it through with getting everything sorted the magic will be there thumb

no, i havent always loved my coupe, it was brought with a slipping clutch and as such i was unable to drive it for quite some time properly
i then had a electrics issue made 1 million times worce by a maplins fuse that didnt fuse, melting my wiring loom, i then had that battery explode in the car....

do i love it...of course i bloody do, why else would I put up with that level of crap from it?!

I can't really fault mine atm. Despite being pretty heavily modified it's running perfectly and never misses a beat.

Err.. yeh maybe Truffle is right.. this should be the "touch wood" thread! laugh

I must admit, sometimes my coupe gets on my nerves..... but a short blat with the windows down and I'm smiling all over again.

I've already given up trying to fix other cars I've owned but the coupe is still there after ~7 years service.

I am being tempted by the jap cars. I've been working on some evos (8 - 400bhp and 9 ~ 390hp) in the last couple of months and they are a dream to play with.

I am very happy with my coupe, its in excellent condition thanks to the previous owner and has relatively low mileage (53k). i am now planning to go on a long road trip to italy, which makes me slightly nervous but, hey!, i bought the car to enjoy it, so it must be driven to its natural habitat smile If it does breakdown at least the italian car mechanics will know what to do ( I'm touching some wood as i write this..... chinny )

I'm very happy with my Coupe too laugh

It has a few faults and is nowhere near perfect, but it's a daily driver and it's reliable, so can't complain smile

Delirously happy with mine smile
Bought it back in early Jan , 16vt modded to circa 300bhp - mostly worked on by Barbz.
Was worried it may need a lot of attention as some older modded cars tend to. Since then covered 4000 miles , hasn't used hardly any oil , and I check every few days. Just finished a trip up to Fort William from Oxford (1000 miles in total ) , with my wife and 10 yr old son and small dog and boot stuffed with luggage for a 4 day visit.
Car was a dream and didn't miss a beat. I will be giving it a Motul oil change this weekend as a thank you. Even my wife loves the coupe and she hates my cars usually smile
So basically I got a hell of a bargain and a damn reliable car to boot smile

Great post, aust-powers. It's easy to only post when you're not happy and this doesn't encourage new forum members to enjoy their cars.

I'm very happy with my car and have just had a trouble free 300 mile round trip to a 5 day music school in the Cotswolds. 150 miles there, parked up untouched for a week. Starts up and 150 miles back and I enjoyed every minute.

The icing on the cake was overhearing 2 young marshalls talking who were directing the parking and guided me into my parking space. Conversation went like this:

"Hey what's that"?
"I don't know but it's nice isn'nt?"
"Mmmm....lovely...."

That put a big smile on my face smile

Happy...

and it would have been dificult to buy better , but i do regret using it with salt on the roads as everything is no longer as shiny and new looking...99% of my driving is at a base boost of .85 bar so its always an absolute buz to switch to high ... Having said that it will never give the adrenalin/raised heartbeat and sweaty palms of an elise in full fun mode, but it is perfect for a family of three !!!
just need a second one now...

Love mine - I had a 16v na years ago and just got back into ownership having seen MCMikes every day at work - what other car can you buy for the money with these looks/performance and noise. Even servicing and MPG are ok!

well today my coop has brought me smiles :-)
gave it a nice drive to day early morning and put some optimax in and found it has given me a avrage of 31.8 mpg even with so foot throught the floor action this week :-)

then hit the gym got my muscles feeling good:-)
got the hair cut so now ready to hit the sunshine that showed is glorious head :-)

thought lets drive
ray bands on windows down megdeth tuned up to max

back roads after back roads sun shines when i relise nope no more megadeth so it gets tuned down in favour of the 5 pot growl :-)
hitting so really fast streches of road and forgive the coops handling as today if felt very tight and fun to drive.

saw another two coupes through windsor on the posing strech of the drive and thubs up for fellow lads.
got in to chertsey after 40 miles of sun , boost , and megadeth
had a coffee and chicken to fed the hungry muscles :-)
pick the girl friend up and chatted to her very pretty friend who liked the coop.
hit the road again but slower this time. giving it little off boost pkes at the throttle just for the noise and the girl friend looking at you like your a 5 year old.

oh well looked at the and relised how pretty it is and relised i wouldn't want anyother car at this prescise time :-)

waiting for it to break tomorrow lol

Just got back from a kite flying trip to North Berwick, tipping the odometer over 66,000 miles. Drove the coupe extra gently all the way there and back, barely even using positive boost. So nice to drive, it really doesn't have to be quick to enjoy. Also, I've very recently re-calibrated my Alpine IMPRINT stereo so the tunes were sounding excellent.
Earlier in the week I booked the car into PowerItalia for a service. Amazing how a chat with Roger can put your mind at ease. thumb
Jet wash tomorrow and a new hands free kit to install. So ends another happy week of coupe ownership. laugh

All the family love my coop.

I have to fetch my daughter from her ballet classes in it so she can pose.

I have to fetch the wife from work in it so she can pose.

And I've just found out I've had the coop a little over 12 months and all It's needed is discs and pads on the front, 2 tyres, and a coil.

So yes I'm woohoo yipee biglaugh driving

Good skills Austin thumb - I was thinking of something similar to this thread myself. As time ticks by and the cars out there get older there's more and more posts about what's gone wrong. So much so that it's easy to worry that you're next!

I love driving my coup. It doesn't matter that it's hard to keep it in a straight line, or that the manifold is blowing, or that I can't see the coolant level cos the bottle is mank, or that the grab handles scrape my child's head every time I load them in, or that the cabin fan squeals in cold weather, or that I get 6% handbrake efficiency every MOT....I could go on. I don't own my coup, my coup owns me (if you know what I mean), and I'm fine with that

did 120 miles today, coop running like a swiss watch love
had considered selling up a while back, but after 2 insulting offers from the chav variety i decided to hold on to her.
for me its all about keeping old-older cars alive,it's my hobby and a passion and somewhere along the line they will break, but with a great forum and many experienced owners always willing to offer support its still seems worthwhile.
(deep pockets sometimes required though) ooo

integrale or fulvia next, bring it on!

I don't get to run my coupe very often but I used it tonight for a run over to Tamworth snowdome to meet up with some friends (appox 20 miles each way).Nice run on the way out at 9pm. However the run back was FAB, 1 am,cool dry evening, empty roads and I let it have its head. Not very high speeds just using the power and handling to good effect. The car ran like a dream in every way.
Am I happy with my coupe? oh yes.

Mine is off the road with a snapped throttle cable.

It's really brought home to me how much I love it. Can't wait to get back in it again!

Sam, if your speakers are the original, pull it out and ensure that the tag block on the back where the wires connect is still attached. If it's not, it dangles and the bare wires short against the earthed metal.

Shortly after that your radio catches fire - well, mine did!

So happy with mine.
It was cheap, compared to my previous car (Porsche)
Its VERY fast (almost as fast as my last car!) and yes its modified.
Its more reliable.
The (planned) maintenance has been reasonable (so far).
The depreciation is not a worry.
I'm still on the same front tyres even though I drive it hard.
It looks great and I love the interior (beige leather!)
I've had lots of complements.
It sounds great,
It corners great (once you get the confidence to use the viscodrive)
I love it.

I'm very happy with my coupe!!

Had it in storage over the colder months from November '08 till last week.

Gave it a charge of the battery, a nice oil change and checked the fluids and Zero problems since.
Ran it all last week around 650miles and Realised how much I really missed it.

Love my coupe, even treated her to a new Radio!

MOT next week so fingers crossed it'll do fine (clutch wood)
