Some of you know recently that i have had a few electrical problems with my coupe, started off with the fuel pump, then went to batteries, new ones charged ones, all kept dying, well my bad luck carried on after i thought the problem was solved, my coupe is probably going to be written off.

And here is the wall that stopped it. I am very gutted, slightly wet road, god knows if there was anything else on the corner (no this is not through speeding, or drink driving at all) the car just didnt want to stop and went straight, even after all my bad luck, looking at the car made me distraught, cant beleive it, its my daily car, probably lose out now aswell through the insurance, spent quite alot on the car since i brought it 2 years ago, i still dont know what to say or do. So if it gets written off, i dont know whether to try and get another coupe, or whether this one can be sorted, or whether to break alot of the parts, as there are alot of new bits on it. Will just have to wait till garage has assessed it and then its in there hands.

I know its not what you want to here...but thats going to be a write off cry

I know you had a run of honorable luck, and this just about caps it off now doesn't it frown

one way to look at it is at least no one is hurt, no one else was involved. it could have been much much worse. I hope your prepared for the voltuares that are going to be after parts (if you clame, if you buy it back....)

There are alot of new parts on there, thats what is more frustrating, new uprated turbo from countrycruising, new downpipe, de-cat, cat back system, loads of other bits. I am glad my son and girlfriend wernt in the car too, neither air bag went off for some reason, which is even better that i didnt get hurt.

I dont know whether to stay with coupes now, this has almost been the nail in the coffin for my love for them, s i need to wait to see what insurance say then i will definately buy it back off them, then decied what to do.

How much do they normally expect you to pay to get it back.

I'd take those obvious mods off before handing it over as you may end up with nowt if not declared

Looking at it, I'd say it's dead. Hold out for the very best quote and buy another, while they are cheap!

Real bad luck, feel for you. Looked a nice car.

The engine isnt dead though, where the accident happened it was 100 metres from my fathers house, the car started after and drove those 100 metres, but the passenger arch was rubbing, ive checked inside and the fan has pushed up against the turbo, but i dont think thats done any damage. I have already declared the exhaust, and air filter, the turbo is a standard turbo with uprated internals so they cant not pay me for that reason surely.

Does anyone know what you normally have to pay to buy it back if it is written off, being that the value to them was only £2k through the valuation company they use, i had a check myself so they cant try and scam me.

God knows what they will offer you, but there have been a few unlucky coopsters recently, search through and contact them for some advice, certainly DON'T except the first offer and don't let them refuse to sell it you back if it's only Cat C.

Can they stop you buying it back for cat a and cat b then, not to put back on the road, but to get my parts back. Ive never had a crash before so i dont know what to do anyway. I will just have to see.

im certain there is no chassis damage, theres only a tiny bend on the passenger beam that runs from the bulk head to the radiator, just the end part, other than that the bumper, bonnet and radiator took the brunt of it.

IIRC you could have the zender kit as an optional extra from fiat, was in their options catalogue

I could have bought mine back for £500.

Best speak to Joe for numbers on fixing, with similar but lighter damage to my green one id guess you could fix at 3k.

And if your buget doesnt stretch, tie one end of a chain to the bent chassis, and the other to a lamp post then floor it in reverse. Jobs a good un!

Best bet is to buy another, don't except first pay out off though.

How much was yours worth before the crash phil_20VT using the valuation guide they use, glass.co.uk i checked mine, with mileage of 112k mine comes out at £2k but i think it was worth a bit more with the condition, plus i have spent alot on the car, so i want those parts back, so if i get a good offer after there poor offer laugh then i will try and buy it back.

My only decision is after my bad luck with my coupe in the last month (not too disheartening before that with problems) i dont know if i want to get another one, i do because i love the look of them, my girlfriend loves or "loved" my car, and if i could buy mine back after then i could get another one and shove all the good parts onto that one, it would have to be an ink black again i think, or maybe the elctric blue plus thats in solo italia at the moment. I dont know what to do till i get some info from the insurance.

Mine was worth about 3.5k, this was just before prices took a dive though. Financially it would have only been worth while to keep and fix if was to run it to the ground.

I'm sorry to say the insurance will not take into account any of the new parts fitted.

Depending on what parts you mean, just take them off before they take the car away. Mine left on 4 space savers, most of the dash missing, door handles missing, wipers and motors missing.

Your second coupe will never be the same. My mooner is a far better car, feels like a new car in comparison, it's not the same though.

Feel free to drop me a PM if you have any questions about what I experienced.

My car has already been taken, i have never had an accident before so i didnt have a clue what to do, didnt ever think about taking bits off of it before they took it. I took all my personal things out, baby seat, and took my tax out because i had only just brought a years tax.

I dont expect the insurance company to take into account my add ons, or how much ive spent, i just want to be able to buy the car back so i can either use those parts again, or sell them if im not getting another coupe.

I'd try and get the car back asap.

Maybe even take the hit to have it towed yourself.

don't they pretty much value it on book value and take mileage into account?

Just looking back at your posts I don't want to put a damper on things but did you take the de-cat off???
They might deam it as not road legal or something as every car of your coupes age should have a cat fitted if i'm not mistaken??

indeed it is..and in daylight

OK I would undertake the following

- Get the best offer from insurers
- buy the coop back
- strip off all good parts
- sell parts and use ££ from insurers to buy another nice coop from forum (im sure there are nice examples in buy/sell section)
- Or sell the parts from yr coop and keep yr new coop as it is

So sorry to hear this, but you need to make the most out of the situation and move onto a new coop and regain that smile
