Long time since we had a proper SW meet and I know that there are a number of cars in the Somerset / Devon area.
Might need to wait until after the School hols. as the roads get busy, but I'm happy to organise something for September.
Any interest?

Not sure whether to start in WSM area or further west, so that the Devon guys also get a chance. there's some good roads around Exmoor. In then end though, we just need a good turnout

I'd agree that Dartmoor is a bit too far - I'm north of Bristol! I reckon I could manage WSM though - are there many good roads in the area?

Cheddar is a favourite meeting spot for car clubs in the area! Always good photo opportunities etc. Just make sure you pick a day where there won't been thousands of tourists, otherwise you will struggle for parking space!

I'd agree that Dartmoor is a bit too far So would I ... actually was suggesting Exmoor, different and closer, with some nice drives, but if everyone is happier with a more easterly setting then WSM as a start point and then Cheddar etc. No problem. There are some VGood drives, a good pub or two for lunch. September should see the end of the main tourist hordes and we can get a good day out. Shall I plot a course..??

Right, I'll get plotting a route.
Might take a week or so and I'll check out the pubs. I'll post a link to the details when done.
We can start by meeting at the pier ...... oops, sorry, there isn't one! would be good to meet up on the beach for a few photos then convoy to cheddar for more photos and some food

how about a meet in WSM to show up owl10 Thanks... A bit of info if this area was decided upon for a meet: Its free to get on the beach, and it can prove to be good for photo's..... when the tide is in (but not in too far!) There are a couple of speed scameras about, but not too many, I know most, if not all, there locations from weston to cheddar, and there are some very good, fast (if thats what you want) and / or scenic roads in the area. One route, which takes in some of the somerset levels, that i'd suggest is.... clicky - map / route WSM -cheddar or something similar. Ironically, I'm likely to be in portsmouth in september, but would happily make the trip back for a meet 'on home soil'

Yes, definitely so good, fast and scenic roads around Cheddar. It's where we had a close encounter of a Pheasant kind a few years ago (and probably altered the colour of a motorcyclists underpants too) There is a video ...

Good to see so many interested. I promise a nice day, no rain etc. etc. - this is the provisional route, which includes lunch stop in Priddy. Map (only the Cheddar bit!) And the Pub - Here! - there aren't any better pics, but take it from me it's pretty good. There are some pretty good roads here for a Coupe convoy....

OK, I hope everyone (who's car is still running) is still up for this one. The weather is supposed to be fine, the drive will be and luch, at This Place should be pretty good. Option of a further drive after lunch as well should make a good day. I suggest that we meet up on Weston sea front, near the pier at 9.30 for 10.00 start when we can make our way to Cheddar for a photo session / tyre kicking / short walk, before a drive on to Priddy for lunch. After lunch there are some good roads to enjoy to finish the day off mid - late afternoon. Sound a plan?? Who's still running ? Be there

Shame, Hope you can make the next one. So, it looks like ..... Benny Bulldog5046 Spookly Bez MiniMetaller Jonny Flea Owl10 Adam_Dickson and of course anyone else who fancies a meet up and a good drive! The plane appears to be 9.30 for 10.00 at the front in Weston, then for those who will go straight to Cheddar, I guess we would expect about 10.30 arrival! Looks like it's going to be a dry day too. See you all there.

Was a good day, big thanks to paul for arranging it, and picking a mint pub for lunch with the fit barmaid, was a pleasure meeting you all and another massive thanks to paul for showing us that even a coop with only 30k on the clock can sound like a badger being murdered, next to 140k that sounds sweet as a nut! so erm cheers mate Bez

Oh, cheers .... thanks for the compliment Actually narrowing the sound down, a little - 1. Out of gear, stationery, rev engine to 5.5 - 6k and no problem, sweet sounding 2. On the road, drop a gear and boot it and around 5.5 - 6k and it screams! 3. On the road any speed, but revs down a bit and no noise Still wondering about clutch bearing
