So can someone show me a sprint blue with a full zender kit on, and an le kit so i can see the difference please. Bigtop, when I get home later, I'll post a picture of mine up for you. Mine's a Sprinty, with black wheels and Zender body kit, so should give you a very good idea what yours would look like As it is now: When I tried a Zender spoiler on it, but eventually decided I wasn't keen on it: I think Freddans spoiler above suits the Coupe very well

Yes, thats the one
i love the look of the zender kit in sprint blue, and i think your right about the spoiler.
CC is doing a deal at the mo, but its easier for me to buy the kit first i think, and then sort fitting/spraying later.
where is the best place to buy the sides and lips?
and does it make much difference to insure?
cheers

Here's another opinion: Whilst I prefer the original lines of the coupe (mine is colour coded non LE) I think the LE kit is a well designed ADDITION to the original design. The lines complement and blend with the Bangle slashes.
If I was to add a rear spoiler, personally I would add the aggressive one that Sprintsteve & PaulW posted. I don't see the point of adding the subtle M style ones.
Concerning the aggressive one, if you look at it, is in in fact VERY well designed and extends from the original shape in several aspects. It could have been designed by the same talented person who did the LE kit!
Finally, I like black wheels, especially the satin black. PS: btw, I was at Silverstone today watching the Lambo Trophy and they ALL had satin black wheels, and very large spoilers front and back...Beautiful ;-)

The point is (good enough for me) reducing lift forces at the back (together with my diffusor) at speed. This enhances both grip and reduces the total drag. Some of you may say "impossible to know without windtunnel!" but it's actually quite simple basic aerodynamics. What's tricky to know is HOW many kg's of downforce I get.. This is why so many "three-box-bodies" share the same sort of rear spoiler; Audi RS4, Merc C-class AMG, BMW M-series... It works the same way.

I think the last thing an understeering car needs is downforce at the rear, why not fit it to the bonnet The BMW M-copy will lower some drag as long as there is some lift at the back of the Coupe, which I think we can safely presume. Say a Sparco strutbrace does 0.2sec to a laptime, then this spoiler does another 0.2sec. Or something.

My understanding is rear spoilers are generally to assist in two ways: 1. to produce more downforce at speed, and 2. to give stability against cross winds (usally in co-ordination with front spoilers) (and maybe 3, to make the car look mean!)
Having driven 911's with major 'wings' (often referred to as whale-tails) I can confirm that they are needed. Some of the older models do not have the rear spoilers originally or people remove them to make the lines more pure. They then admit to loss of stability. The spoilers are more important still as you will know that the (older) 911's are quite upright with the 911 headlights and windscreen rake and therefore not very aerodynamic.
On the flipside, my understanding is the coupe is very well designed aerodynamically (ahead of its time?) with the slanted front headlights. I would also guess that the designers left the rear 'square' as this acts as a spoiler effect creating sufficient downforce.
Additionally, the 911 downforce adds traction to the rear wheels and the weight bias at the back. Not needed on the Fiat (we return to Jimbos observation, ha ha!)
On a personal level, I have never been un-nerved by the Fiat in cross-winds or at speed. Maybe the track-day addicts on this site can add their experience...
Per, if you like your BMW style spoiler then that's fine, your choice, but I don't think the 'downforce' argument holds much water. And even if it did, the larger wing would probably be more effective.
All IMHO.

In all Honesty I dont think that aerodynamics were foremost in Mr. Bangle's mind when he designed the coupe - he just seems to have managed it as a by product of making the car look good.

Together with my diffusor it should make a small difference according to basic aerodynamic laws. A larger wing would be a too big abstraction to the airflow in itself I think. There's probably a reason why so many carmakers have a similar spoiler on their higher spec cars, small spoilers you wouldn't even notice if not pointed out.

...You learn something new everyday. So it was designed for looks, then changed as the back kept popping up I guess.

Did you see the modified mutant linked from that site? Don't worry, it's not OT because it is also another example of a tasty spoiler.
