*But I only have a 20v NA and I've never (knowingly) tried Toyos since having them on a Nissan many years ago, and I think they'll have improved since then.....

I've had Toyos for years on various cars and have found them to be excellent tyres.

I've got falkens and found them to be great, no complaints, but I'll get toyo's next time as I want to compare.

They won't be the FK-452's, as the FK-452 only come in 16" and upwards.

after 3 sets of f1's i tried the falkens, havent noticed any real loss in performance and i prefer the stiffer side walls of the falkens

the uni royal rainsports are supposed to be excellent tyres around similar price to the fl's and would be a worthy choice too

maybe its all in my head but with the falkens it doesnt seem to squirm around and flex in the corners feels firmer and more responsive with them on

all in my opinion ofcourse !!

I'm running now on Hankook's RS2 and they REALLY are the best dry tire I've tried until this very day.

More grippy than F1s though in wet conditions the Goodyear's are a best choice.

Silly cheap too!!!

I've got Falken 512's on the Rallye. plenty of tread, and they look healthy, but they are the biggest load of pants tyres I've ever had the misfortune to trust my life with. I'm unsure how old they are, they don't look cracked or anything, but the traction is the opposite of Sunni (yeah Shiite) I'm going to replace four perfectly healthy tyres with something else. Problem is you can't get high performance rubber like Toyo T1's in 14" so it's a right polava finding decent tyres.

Coopless!

how can a company make such good tyres as the 452's, which i like to run, and then others that are patently crap? crazy

Probaly because the others are older designs.

Pirelli make crap tyres like the P6000's, but they also make good tyres like the PZero range.

I have Nankang NS-2 Ultrasports on my golf as they came with the wheels, they are good in the dry but atrocious in the wet. T1-Rs will be going on when i need new tyres, for the price they are the best.

Eagle F1 GSD3's are the best wet weather tyre i have had, the wear much better than the toyos as well, not as much outright grip though. Uniroyal Rainsport 2's are average at best and not really worth the bother as they are the same price and tread style as the toyos but with an inferior compound.

Imo laugh

I used to use dunlop's on my focus rs it came with sp9000's, they were utter toot. I spoke to one of the engineers and he recommended 'rapid response' They were bloomin awesome for grip and life wasnt bad either. When I got the coop it had toyo's all round, wasn't disappointed though when i popped 2 falkens fk452's on the front was amazed at the difference the toughened up side wall made to handeling. Then again everyone's coop's different and people's personal tastes differ hugely. Neither toyo nor falken are bad tyres in my humble opinion.

Yep - they are great, but they are strictly speaking a track tyre with very stiff sidewalls.

Good price TurboJ, how much will fitting be on top ?

Alot of tyre places local to me used to charge about £12 per corner, however recently some have quoted upto £25 !!

Do you think some garages prefer fitting tyres they have supplied ?

Don't think a lot of tyre outlets like us buying our own tyres.......

......I asked for a quote on a tyre for my girlfriends fiesta a while back at my local place, they wanted almost £65 fitted for a nexen 185/55/14 !! just bought 2 online fitted for less than that! no wonder we search round online for the best deal!! laugh

I've fitted some Falkens having previously run Continental SportContact and Goodyear Eagle F1s.

From my point of view they are as good as either of the above for grip, and are only marginally less good than the Contis overall as they give slightly higher road noise at 70mph+. I'd take them over the Eagles all day long though.

Really excellent tyres for the price.

I prefer the Toyo t1Rs personally. I have both on different cars.

BTW if you are nearby call Bracknell Tyre & Battery for a price - they are usually much cheaper than camskill and cheaper than micheldever (part of the same group). They sell toyos cheaper than my local place gets them in at. T1Rs were £5/corner cheaper than camskill in the size I bought last and there prices are fitted rather than delivered

I've run FAlkens for years now, excellent tyres IMO. Hap Pirelis on when I got it. Then fitted Toyo's and had mhoosive understeer when they were getting low on tread. Cant really fault the Falens cool
