Hi, I'm new to the forum, I have just bought myself a Coupe 20vt, in yellow. Pretty much standard, it has a supersprint cat back, and a novitec chip.

Was wondering if these chips are any good? And are the (newer) g-tec ones better?

Have found the guides helpful so far, keep up the good work!

Gtechs are better than a novitech, novitechs have fuelling problems from memory. Probably at one time of all the cars that were chipped, 80-90%+ were gtech cars.

A live remap is a better option, but alot more costly. So if you are on a budget or just don't want to spend loads then the gtech is a tried and tested option for an easy 25-30 bhp.

That said you should still get your fuelling checked and check that everything is OK. Also, Poweritalia, a well respected specialist are just down the road from you in Laindon smile

The GTEC is much more common as it was a lot cheaper, still it was pretty much a tweaked copy of Novitec.
I never had any fuelling (or other) problems with my Novitec chip, but then again I always try to keep my Coupe well maintaned throughout. If yours are too I strongly doubt you will have any problems with your chip.

That said, I agree with all above it's well worth the small sum for a proper FC remap.

I might give the GTEC a go, are they easy to DIY fit? old chip out, new chip in?

I'll have to get some pictures up too! smile

Sorry to sound like an old fart (no comments please guys nono ) but get a "health check" done on your engine before any mods and that way, you have a solid baseline to work from. cool

In the past I've had a Gtech 2 (with supporting mods) and am now running a Gtech 1. I've also had a Novitec but as JimO says, the fuelling was mad.

The Gtech's are a very cheap and tested way of improving performance but if you can run to it, get in touch with Leighton (Flea) at FC Performance for a proper remap (check seperate threads under Traders Section). It's like Garlic Bread - it's the future. rolleyes laugh
