Please need help.
My friend is rebuilding engine and we need info.
How much he can lower head on 20v atmo.
Everything else is OEM , just polished.

head mark

is it margine for lowering head ?

I don't think anyone has had to skim there head to a point where it's a worry, I would say that anymore than a light skim I would look for another head, how far you can actually go is hard to answer, when will the valves start hitting the pistons??? Also remember that the more you skim it the higher your C/R will become

if i remember correctly there is a similer looking lug almost opposite what you have pictured at a more realistic depth from the mating face but i cant be sure that its there for that reason

It will end in big tears if you go that far! You should see a rough corner on the head (looks like bad casting) which dictates how far you can skim.

I have circled what you pictured in yellow, im sure its nothing to do with anything really

the part i was discribing i have circled in red but equally the part i have circled in blue is a contender

saying this though i cannot find anything that confirms this

skimming the head is not the way to go if you want power...

if you want troubles is one good
