I'd love to get a spare Coupe and have it sprayed orange, but to be honest, I don't think a metallic orange colour would suit the Coupe.

It would have to be a flat/solid orange imo smile

Those of us who went to SpaItalia 2009 will confirm the Lambo orange is a very good looking colour on the Coupe.

Hmm, an orange LE!

Yum!

Anyway JKD, I thought Porto was the best colour in the world, ever? Thats the impression I've got from your previous posts!

If you do get this done, it will look damn fine for sure!

Porto is indeed the best standard colour. wink

Orange could turn out to be the best non standard colour.

I want to make the Coupe look more exotic and I think that with a Cada or PIU front bumper and black alloys it would work.

"Porto is indeed the best standard colour.

Orange could turn out to be the best non standard colour."

I concur...both with dark alloys & side repeaters of course.
If non-standard colours are a concern, may be a compromise could be to use the Fiat Barchetta orange paint? That's the direction I'm heading in, once the porto becomes too scruffy.

That orange Fiat Coupe is nice indeed. But, its not orange enough!

I think this is the shade of orange I want- its a really deep solid shade.

JKD you will have to watch the lowering with the cada.

Just been to my garage i use for a pre mot check this morning and can't get it in, I have standard shocks with eibachs on front and fk springs on rear, which I fitted about a month ago, after that picture was taken.

Sure cowboy has a cada but he runs bilsteins and standard springs, I'm pretty sure.

Imo, that would look different but very nice, would like to see it in the flesh, seen an orange one before in Glasgow but it had a bonnet scoop

I'm just a bit unsure about the finer details- the front badge, the Pininfarina side badges and the petrol cap.

Do you think if I did these items black, like the alloys (which are definitely going to be black) they would look ok?

Orange is lovely smile

Would like to see it when it is done certainly.

I would however go with Anthracite instead of black as a previous post says. It contrasts a little too much for me.

Nice idea on a coupe, i like the colour though i suspect we wont see anyone from our forum with it.

Realistically speaking the cost is too prohibitive.

^ Indeed, I will place money on the project not going ahead. Its nice to have a dream however and ill not take that away from any one. Some times dreams is all we have

They however do...occasionally come to light and become real...JKD prove the doubters wrong (inc me!) and indeed spray your coupe orange. Ill be the first to shake your hand on a job well done

taste is all subjective....if you gain joy from looking at your coupe however, who gives a monkey what else any one thinks?

I have seen a UK orange Coop before - last summer on the M5 at the Exeter turn-off - anyone else seen that one around?

By saying orange is the 'Daniel Craig' of the Coupe colours what I meant is everyone thought that Daniel Craig would be a crap James Bond and he turned out to be good. In the same way, I hope orange will be a surprise hit! Clever joke eh? coat

Of course if orange does turn out to be crap I think I'll have to make my Coop invisible like the Aston Martin Vanquish in Die Another Day.

Problem is... there seems to be a LOT of different types of oranges! I mean look at click to enlarge

and compare it to click to enlarge

and then with click to enlarge

also notice that all those cars are photgraphed in sunny countries where you can get away with bright bold colours! on a wet miserable day in the UK it would just look so out of place!

by the way, that Ford GT is such a sexy looking car, I want one...in any colour....

Seems it will be a few weeks before I am able to get the respray done.

Been messing about with different bumper combos

click to enlarge Cada - seems this will be too much hassle going over speed bumps, so not worth it.

click to enlarge PIU - the bumper itself doesn't look too aftermarket, yet seems to suit the aftermarket nature of the orange.

So hopefully, my Coupe should look like this

click to enlarge but with honeycomb grill and LE sideskirts.

JKD, Out of interest.....if you don't mind me being a bit cheeky how far are you going with this and whats the cost? have you talked to any body shops about quotes?
You mention its going to be a few weeks, that soon?

When you get the color change, are you having everything gutted from the car so you can get inside door shuts boot and engien bay area? or is it going to be a glass in doors closed blow over?

Do you plan on taking all the bumpers off and stripping as much as you can before it goes to the paint shop?

One thing i remember is that the paint can vary in price per litre .

This really can knock you for six when they give you a quote.

Just out of interest what sort of prices have you had for this amount of work ?

Respray to orange: exterior, door shuts, boot area and interior metal dash strip.

Respray to black: alloys, Pininfarina side badges, front Fiat badge, petrol cap.

Change: standard front bumper to PIU front bumper.

Length of work: 2 weeks

Cost: £2300.

I think it will look excellent in that colour. Esp more so, if it had a full Zender kit, LE alloys, LE fuel Cap, LE mirrors, LE headlights and LE rear lights.

Due to the bad weather, I've not started yet.

Does anyone know when it will be warm and sunny again?

Also, I notice that you guys are saying £2300 is a good price- what would be the normal expected price for this level of work?

Hope he doesn't mind me posting these. How do you get those pop up pics to load on here, btw?

Correct me if I am wrong but... that's bronze not orange smile

The Lambo/ST Orange will look excellent, but like some other members have mentioned, I would go for anthracite wheels not black!

Thanks for the photos guys. Have any forum members got any more orange car pictures?

I'm trying to pick an orange that is vibrant, that really shows off the Coupe's lines and makes the car look extra exotic.

Essentially, I'm trying to get the ''orange version of sprint blue'' - not for the way in which it changes shade, but in terms of the intensity and solidness of the colour, if that makes any sense.

What do you think of these?

Sort of, I guess. IIRC, it was a stock Volvo or Vauxhall colour... I think it suits the coop though.

Most oranges I've come across are either:

a dull orange, a yellowish orange, or too dark.

Please find me the perfect orange.

What about the French Orange coupe that crashed at Spa.?

I've found the perfect orange. I'm going to do the pillars, badges, petrol cap (all current chrome bits) in gloss black as that seems to go well with this orange.

For the best orange i think you should go for a house of kolor kandy, very expensive but will give you the best results. You really need a spray painter that has used this paint before because its not easy to spray at all! Here is an example of the orange i mean but HOK offer a very wide range of paints.

see full range of paints here

I remembered seeing an Orange coupe with black wheels and detailing, i think it might have been a 16V or VT in the Islington area, id say in the last 6 months. I'd looked very sweet, not over emphasized, was a lovely flat but strong colour. What were the older orange FIAT colour codes of the 70's/80's..... would that be more authentic a choice?
Best of luck with your colour decision ;-)

Who knows lol it was on there when I got it. The guy I bought it off had tried to anonymify the car by removing/changing the Fiat badges.
