Hi guys,

My block is now rebored to 83mm to fit my new forged Accralite 9:1 pistons

I have a doubt about the correct position of the ring which have a "step" on it... Do i have to fit this "step" down or up compared to the top of the piston?

Is the "1" or the "2" the right set up?

I never noticed a step on mine and you are the first person to ask. Does it not say in the ring box? Is the ring not marked with "TOP" or a "DOT"? Number 2 would be the correct way round to fit a "Full Circle Scraper" or "Scalloped Scraper" second ring. It’s been a while since I have personally seen the ring set so can you PM me a detailed picture of your ring and I can call Accralite on Monday to confirm your enquiry.

It does say on the ring box and if my memory serves me correctly it says that the writing on the ring faces upwards towards the crown, I think it says N200 or something

It's really hard to see because of the quality of the picture so i have added some colored lines. In red color i have followed the step and point out the face with has a N200.

I think you're right about the good set up. The "N200" on one face seems to be the face which will be upward. That's why i have added upside and downside in black color.

If i have understood correctly i need to fit the N200 face at the top. And like J said it is the N°2 on my first picture which is ok.

Am i right now guys?

Before you put the rings on and insert the pistons meaure the clearance with a feeler gauge for each piston in each bore. NEVER assume the machine shop will do a perfect job. This is a critical check.

The machine shop which has rebored my block is currently one of the best in the South of France... but i will listen to you and measure the clearance for peace of mind
