it's kind of ironic that the guy with a ford escort, "bex" describes the coop as rancid looking. also "total eclipse" says the coop is pretty quick but crap. this coming from the guy that drives a turqoise rover.

The debate gets a bit more sensible towards the bottom but the numpty with the Mk6 Escort clearly knows sod all about cars.

1) a 5cyl will always sound better than the ratty zetecs used in the Mk5/6 Escort

2) The Mk6 Escort RS2000 was an insult to a name on highly respected proven Mk1/Mk2 rally cars.

3) If you want the definition of turd, the Mk6 Escort was neither nice to drive, reliable or durable. They rust easily and the car was a whole load of accountant cost cutting bilge.

And all of the above opinion comes from a confirmed Ford nut, they've made some great cars but the Mk5/6 Escort are not included in that list**

** Escort Cosworth excluded but then, it was a shortened Sapphy Cosworth 4x4 floorpan with a Karmann built body made to look like the Mk5 Escort but sharing few actual panels or bits.

as i said, the insurance costs alone would prevent most chavs owning a coupe. it isnt cheap for a 17-25 year old trying to get insurance on a group 17-20 car. i guess this is why they favour corsas , puntos and escorts . this is probably the first time that over expensive insurance is actually a good thing.

That would be a great idea. Have you ever considered some people like Ford's and know very little about fiats? Pretty similar to people that know a lot about fiat's and very little about fords when it comes down to it. It's not disimilar to a lot of people on this forum who know absolutely nothing about Jap cars, but are very quick to have an opinion on them.

I fail to see why anyone insulting a coupe bothers people so much. It's your car, so who cares what someone else thinks?

Live and let be? I find it ironic that people here are having a crack at them and there "chavy" cars....in response to there post about how "rancid" the coupe looks. Its all subjective at the end of the day.

For the record I have owned a XR3i, Nova, Supra, Vr6 passat, Mr2 mk2 and 1 and a load of other stuff. I life to think I have a well rounded option from first hand knowledge

Most of the people on that forum have the general knowledge and opinion of the public in general about Fiats and how cr@p they are.

Most of us are biased, because we have a Fiat.

All cars have their faults and the Ford owners know theirs, but Fiat has always been known as unreliable and cr@p and it'll be years and years before Fiat get rid of that reputation, if ever.

Fix Or Repair Daily and Fix It Again Tomorrow, two of the best known makes will always carry that stigma.

They don't care what we think of their Fords and let them carry on thinking what they like about our Fiats, it doesn't matter.

The moderating and admin team will not be happy at all if people start arguments across forums, it has happened before and will not be tolerated, please think before signing up on that forum.

Bringing this back on topic, I think she's being aspirational saying DD. I'm at work now, so can't give the detailed assessment I'd like to and which the subject deserves, but from what I can recall they looked like a large B, maybe a C.

i agree, please do not start posting on their forum. next thing there'll be a couple of dozen max powerer's on here causing havoc. my aim was not to have a go at the chavs, it was just to point out that these guys are having a go at the coupe, which whilst not perfect, walks all over their corsas, escorts and nova's in terms of looks, style and performance. they have no idea what they are talking about, yet still think they're experts. i bet if you took any of them for a drive in a coop, they'd become instant fans.

i certainly wouldn't put down the cosworth though, i wouldn't buy one myself, because it still looks like a ford escort, but what an engine!!!! there's certainly a good rally heritage behind any of the cosworth fords.

most makers have their bad and good models. it's each to their own when it comes to cars. i know a guy who restores morris marinas and old austins as a hobby. whilst they're not my type of car (not at all, actually ), i cant knock him for the passion he has. my point is, those idiots show no open mindedness at all. basically if it has no bodykit and spoiler, its rubbish.
