Hi after a failed attempt at installing my new hids i had to look at removing the headlight cover. So with the headlight in pieces i need some help. Thats is what im left with,i need to remove the old sealant, mastik from the headlamp rim and from the cover. How did you guys go about this? Also is there any companys that will refurb the lense for me? I dont want to damage the lense. Any help appreciated

i used a sharp stanley knife to remove the old sealant, and a flat bladed srew driver helped to remove the large chunks from the headlamp rim, the black part of the casing.
As for companys im unsure about this, if you follow the how to guide and use plenty of elbow grease the covers will come up like new, your arms will drop of after thow.
I have another one to re furb as i only did the one last time.

Another quick question guys the how to states using sandpaper ,should this be wet and dry paper: This might help Alfa 156 headlight refurb. After, you will need to apply some Lamin-X clear film to protect the finish otherwise you will be redoing this every few months.

Can I ask why you had to take the headlight apart to install your plug 'n' play kit?

What have you done so far?
I'd guess if you have little scratches your at the stage to use a cutting compound (plastx) and then polish (some sort of brasso or similar?)

if you have a car buffer or a orbital buffer and a willing friend you can use some 800 wet and dry then work upto 1200 or 1500 then use some Farécla scratch remover or G10 compound yoou friend holding the lense firmly on a table whilst you buff and then wash and use some polish to bring to a glass shine.
Thats the method we used to use at repli-cast on colour gel coated fibre glass kits

Hi, newbee here...1st post so be gentle ! Headlights on the coop were looking grim when i bought it last week, so i thought i'd have a go at a refurb or at least make them look better. Used 1500 wet and dry lightly on them and then used flat part of the thumb to remove the coating, so i didnt scratch underneath. Rough on the thumb and took about 90 mins for both headlights. Used Halfords rubbing compound [ twice ] and then shone up with t-cut. Well happy with result , look a million times better now. Car is a 1995 FSH red 16v coop with no bumps, dings etc and i love it !

Firstly, you really need a drill with polishing mops. After the initial wet & dry, get stuck in with abrasive cream. I have stuff for PVC windows that works a treat. Lastly Finnish off with polishing waxes. I purchased mine from flea bay.
Takes time but if your patient results are good. Top tip....secure lens to a bench with screws at the sides when buffing.
I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

Done mine a few months back on my Porto very easy to do just time consuming and messy. I followed the bow to guide brought the stuff they suggested worked a treat, would put a pic up but dont know how. Only problem i have got is on the passenger side one their is a dog hair kinda forgot to clean it before i put then lens on.
