My 16v N/A met the Grim Reaper the same day as your problem DidCoop, unfortunately the Reaper used his scythe on my cambelt...

I think the belt had jumped a tooth as I was getting chugging, hesitation and poor performance for a few weeks. I just put this down to Morrisons low octane petrol which I usually shun for Shell V-Power.

I checked the cambelt with a more tech-savvy friend last year and he assured me it looked brand new. Oh well!

Just e-mailed Motor-Mech to see if they can resurrect my lil coop.

It does knock your confidence though. I had to get out in the freezing-rain last Saturday at 1am to push the car by the door handle & steering wheel (Coops ain't light either!). The cold weather must have been the final straw.

Last time I had to call breakdown was when a battery conked out (it wasn't holding charge) and again it was a cold, rainy night and the Vauxhall Astra owners were zooming around gleefully beeping and laughing.

This is the price one pays for a car that onlookers find unusual and cool looking, and owners find such fun to drive. Oh and the ladies are impressed by the Ferrari lights. I can live with that!!!

;-D

same here mate, i get nervous just approaching the car now!!!

driving round in a 1.1 fiesta courtesy car for a few days now, and it's nice to have something with no issues and no impending sense of doom and destruction - not to mention a combusting wallet!!

paranoia can have a back seat until i get the bitch back laugh

I think I come in close second lol!
Have you tried replacing the O2 sensor on yours.
I had an inj light on in a 16vt also.Took me ages to find it.
Turned out to be the O2 sensor signal wire earthing out on the Arb.
Also common for the Dizzy phase wiring going green.
Good luck anyways.

Proccy.Hope she behaves from now on.Yours should be the most reliable coupe going to Spa now i hope.

Ay up John - shouldn't mine be the most reliable considering you've pretty much rebuilt the entire car! wink Or is mine just jinxed?

Keep at it, chap, you know it's worth it in the end.

I'm kind of like Patch, I think, I like to replace parts just to know they've been done. Hopefully, it prevents one or two gremlins somewhere down the line, but deep down I know Nigel's right, just because it's new doesn't mean it won't fail.

And I changed mine to a Walbro, just because I wanted to change the pump for new, and to uprate it seemed sensible. That's my usual thing actually, when something breaks, replace it with uprated smile
