This is bonkers...this is a car I should hate....I've had her two weeks and so far suffered 16mpg consumption..had to change thermostat/senders and now the Lambda....but the damn things infectious.

I've driven her on two longish journeys (300 mile plus round trips) first when I bought her...and discovered the rampant dipsomania...and today after changing the thermostat..still suffering heavy fuel consumption...

But despite the problems, this car is just so right...I've had 13 Alfa's - from Suds through to spiders/gtv's/155's (my favourite) 156's and on and on.......

The coupe is like a big GTV but with all the good bits and some more...it's better built, handles better, smoother ride, sportier feeling engine (16v na v 2ltr ts)and better ground clearance!

The weather was foul for the return journey Fakenham to Gatwick - rain, snow, fog, spray and the M25 roadworks...but the drive was sublime...smooth, fast, controlled, safe and fun..this is a real GT car...an emotional mile muncher.....similar in pace to my 944...but with more emotion...I just love it......all I have to do is improve the fuel guzzling and she'll be near perfect laugh

Is it just me (biased as I am) but does the 16NA seem to be coming into something of a renaissance recently?

Jon, when my surgery's out of the way, bring your car up to Hemel an we'll see what we can find out.

I am suprised that you find the coupe handles better than a GTV.

I found that it was the other way around, plus the GTV (at least in v6 form) rides better.

Obviously I do love coupe's as well though.

Symon, Jon has the 16NA version. Whether it handles better than the Alfa I don't know, but trust me, it handles a lot better than the 20vt.

There's a lot less weight on the front axle.

Don't get me wrong symon...the GTV is a corker...the twinspark is a little 'bouncy' on the front compared to the V6 which seemed more planted...extra weight over the front I guess helps the ride...maybe the harder shocks/stiffer springs on the ts gave a choppier ride...but still streets ahead of most over vehicles smile
