Indeed. And they promised it would be a remake of the 240Z which was by far the nicest (and yes, I did drive all of them including the 350).

The 240Z is the only car I've *ever* regretted selling.

Euro rules and regs would put pay to a similar shaped Coupe, it would be filled with electronic aids (italian electronics shocked ) and be controlled by profit margins, not passion & design. Althopugh I'd be interested to see what they came up with?

Hmmm... Reminds me of the MiTo which was meant to be the new 'sud' but turned out to be Alfa's attempt to copy the new Mini.

Sadly you can't really do sharp nosed cars anymore due to the pedestrian impact laws (cue a hundred posts to prove me wrong!) and neither the 4 or 5 pots will pass emmissions so whatevery the come up with would be quite different.

Has the coupe really got enough recognition (outside these hallowed pages of taste and discernement smile ) to warrant resurrection? Personally I doubt it.

So, I reckon Fiat have pretty much got a blank canvas to play with. RWD would be a bold move these days, but 4WD should be doable.. I'd reckon on a 4wd lightweight (as far as modern crash standards allow) with 250-300bhp and a high waistline based on a current production floorplan to save costs.

So, lets wait a few years and we'll see if I'm really Nostradamus smile

I wouldn't think Fiat would make one anytime soon and it won't be anything like our current coupe's probably. I also think the general public has long forgotten the Coupe. There are not many people that know what you're talking about when you mention the Coupe.

The Fiat boss at the time of the Coupe's development was quite mad (in a good way!) to make a coupe like this anyway. Projects like this usually aren't very profitable (low sales, too many unique parts). The coupe was mainly an image builder for Fiat (I wonder if it helped?) and I suppose they had some money to play with at the time.

If they would make one, I expect it will use the 1.4 turbo engine since they haven't got anything more powerful at the moment and small turbo'd engines are the standard nowadays. Platform will be from the Bravo probably and if will definately be FWD (if even Alfa doesn't go back to their RWD roots, Fiat definately wont). I wouldn't be surprised if they'd just use the Bravo dash for the interior as well. There are very few car manufacturers today that make a unique interior for a small volume sportscar. It's the same with Alfa, the GT has got a 147 dash, the Brera a 159 dash.

So thinking about it, should Fiat a new one? No probably not, it will be a dissapointment.

if the new one has a lotus built body and the 16vt and 20vt options with all the modern equipment like on board disply like the gtr and the option of a flappy padel gearbox and adjustable dampers and a few sport modes and a spoiler that pops up at 70mph would do it for me

Yuk.

Why would you want a car that does all your driving for you?

A Dino inspired rear wheel drive coop would be nice. If it retained a retro inspired feel to the interior and kept its practicality then I think we'd have a new coop.

I doubt very much we'll ever get another Bangle-esque coop again

If they made another....our coops would not be so special.
I would rather they did not.
We all love the coops because we just do.....
