boost controller/boost solenoid vacuum connections - 16/11/2021 18:28

All

My track car was running a hybrid turbo, standard airbox, standard boost control and a proalloy fmic.

I've finally got around to plopping in a forged engine - with all of the supporting mods/ancilliaries/map chip from another car - as a 'plug and play' upgrade so to speak. It's running a gt2860rs, mapped at circa 362bhp. SIP, walbro etc.

Initially put the engine in just with the standard fiat boost controller to get up and running (and because, embarrassingly, I couldn't find my notes about the vacuum connections etc that were on the donor as I stripped it). The donor was running a gizzmo controller and a greddy boost solenoid.

Have now installed the gizzmo and greddy but need to know what to do about the vac pipes - the solenoid has a COM port, an NC port and an NO port, one of which is vented to atmosphere (can't recall which tbh and the car's not here). Have done loads of googling and found that it seems like the COM port should go to the actuator, rendering the other nippled port as the high pressure nipple on the compressor housing I assume? But there are three connections on the original fiat boost controller. When you unplug the fiat one you get an injector light EML on. These sorts of things are not my forte - can anyone shed any light for me about what I should do with it all?

Also, would you expect the gizzmo to retain its settings from when it was mapped despite being powered down for months? Again, I don't really have a clue on how to set it up and although I have Leighton's mapping/rr graph, there's nothing on there about boost levels.

Finally, the car came to me with a boost gauge tee'd into the FPR vacuum pipe, I've temporarily plumbed the gizzmo controller into that tee in place of the gauge - can i put a second tee in or is there a better/neater solution?

Appreciate it guys.

hello, as for the injector light, you have to leave the original solenoid attached with its plug and the light will not turn on. I left it connected together with the upper tube, while for the two lower outputs of the solenoid just make a bridge with a few cm of tube. I mount a manual boost controller, I can't help you with the greddy. remember, leave the old solenoid installed with the plug and top tube connected, and bridge underneath.

Lovely, thanks, I did have the hoses correct then as I thought,

Now need to see about programming the thing as I suspect it's lost it settings.....
