I had my latest Coupe 16vT rolling roaded up at Dynotech Hayes Engineering and am very pleased with the result. The mods on my car include: Dink Stage 1 Chip Scorpion cat back exhaust Gutted cat Open cone filter Uprated EBV Solenoid NGK B8EGV Plugs Here's 2 of my graphs. I also have AFR and tractive effort if anyone's interested. Boost was hit 1.4 bar briefly and max power was acheived at around 4000rpm at 1.2 bar which is nice and LOTS of torque. More than any of my others! Sadly my clutch was slipping on the dyno hence the torque dropping off. Bob, my good friend and dyno operator said it would be a strong 240bhp if the clutch was tip top thusly making it my most powerful owned Coupe to date. (More powerful than my 20vt with GTEC 1 and breathing mods *cough*) Awaits the debates...lol!

I'm sure the clutch would only slip around the peak torque and then grab again further up the rev range? You cold try turning the boost down a bit with a PRV to reduce the slip, but I'm assuming you have the uprated EBV to keep standard chip saftey features...
I'm surprised that it holds 1bar at the redline though.
Massive torque there though, no wonder the standard cutch was slipping! Really sharp spike also... Nothing like the curve you get on a 20vT is it.
F****** b****** thing...

I've got the uprated EBV installed yep! On the road it's ok, you can tell it slips a touch but then is ok thereafter.
Yep I've never seen it go below 1 bar and thats up to the limiter even in 3rd and I tend not to hit the limiter often, I just wanted to see.
Huge torque I agree, more than my other 16vt's. The curve shows just aggressive the car is coming onto boost...madness!

Not too bad for a stageI + slipping clutch. I reckon the chip was a good investment? You should try stage III next

ive yet to test the stage 2 dink when the new clutch is on we will see im optimistic for circa 280+bhp
Thats a very good reading if compared to other stage 1 16vt's certainly better than the evo chip

Thanks Saint, to drive it is super aggressive and you certainly feel the big chunk of torque, not to mention it holding just a over bar right up to redline I'm well chuffed.
FMIC and 3" Downpipe are definitely next, then I'll gradually build up the parts to stage 2 once my stock turbo wears out.

Its about widening out the torque band IMHO, with mine as an example it hold 280ft flat 4000-6000rpm and then over 260ft to 6500rpm, this make it quick on the road (and the headline BHP higher) but it's a thick power band (this area under the graph people talk about) I'll ignore the clutch but the torque on the OE setup quickly drops away in anycase So don't be worried if you spend coin and still only make 280ft/lbs, it is where and how you make it that makes the difference. and it will be more super agressive

I know exactly what you're saying Saint and totally agree, to have that torque for a long period would be naughty!

It makes me happy to hear you are pleased with the results. Needless to say your engine is in good shape. I'm currently in the process of mapping my engine on E85 fuel 1000CC injectors + aquamist + waterspray + kappa intake manifold + flowed head + and T3/T4OE @ 22psi. I'm not sure how much power it makes yet but i get the same whallop of torque as in my Corvette Z06 and it's enough to make me consider a 4WD conversion 16VT's rule! p.s. Paul, long time no hear. I'll mail you shortly

16VT's definitely do rule. Especially with the amount of torque the car's producing on the road it feels like an animal! I love it!
Thanks Dink!

I'll mail you shortly E85 is a really good fuel for turbo engines . Can you see a big difference in ignition advance with E85 if you compare it with 95 RON? What have you changed besides injectors? Fuel pump, FPR, fuel lines etc. 20vt rules

I very much doubt it with a 16vt although it can be the "Underdog" maybe...

Had the car dyno'd again at the same place this weekend on the Dyno day and got much better results! The car came on boost less aggressively which stopped the clutch slip plus I went round the block to properly warm it up and this time the result speaks for itself... 244.3bhp and 285ft lb torque. Very very pleased with these results! The car must like it's new paint lol!
