I'm going to run a weight loss thread for those interested in getting the new year off to a good start.

This won't be a long term effort - just until valentines day, at which point a final table will be published and I will ask a mod to lock the thread.

So please post (stone and pounds please if possible not kg)
- start weight
- what weight you'd like to be in ideal world
- what weight you think you can get to by valentines day

I will put a table together. Weigh in day is saturday of each week so please post update post then. Updated table on sunday.

I'm in the car at the moment (feeling fat after my christmas tour) so my weight will come later today.

I'm not looking to include those looking to gain weight as i don't think there's a lot of point over a short period.

I'm in. Lost a decent amount of weight last year but mostly put back on.
Going to fat club on Tuesday so will post starting weight.

Got a month to drop some weight before I go to lanzarote and a £20 but to lose 1.5 before someone at work..

All motivation, good luck people

If there's still interest in this thread after Valentines Day, then I don't mind taking over if you don't want to carry it on MrCooper smile

In the meantime, my weigh in day is always a Monday, so will give a correct weight on Monday, but am approx. 19 st shocked cry

Ideal weight would be approx. 11 st

Valentines Day is only around 6 weeks away, so I reckon I should get to around 17st 10lbs by then.

If anyone is interested....myfitnesspal app is quite good for helping to shed the pounds. I lost approx 2 stone at the start of last year with its help.

Yes, my daughter uses myfitnesspal and it works well for her. I really can't be bothered inputting everything I eat and drink and what exercise I do though.

It's a bit of a Flaff at first but it remembers your food so gets quicker to input. I found it good to realise what food you can eat more of in terms of calories. Also having a breakfast like porridge works wonders

Yes, I do need to start eating breakfast. I usually have coffee and nicotine to start the day off and really can't be bothered with breakfast so need to make more of an effort.

I'll be cutting back on my portion sizes and alcohol intake to start with and then around March, I'll go back to the 5:2 plan, as that worked well for me when I was on it smile

I'm in. Been meaning to lose weight over the past month, but the weather has been rubbish, so haven't been doing my 16 mile round trip bike commute. I've been through several websites last night looking at various recipes as my downfall is dinner time and eating too much, then a couple glasses of wine and maybe a rum to go with it.

12st 7 as of this morning.
Anything around 12st or less by Valentines day would be good.
Ideal weight, sub 11st

After going from 15st 2lbs to 14st 2lbs for a NoGi Jiu Jitsu competition at the end of November, I then put 6lbs back on enjoying myself in December. Now it’s time to get back on it and smash the training. I’m now aiming for the weight category below the one I competed at so I need to make 13st 6lbs for the British Open in March. Here are the numbers.

Current weight 14st 9lbs
Target weight 13st 6lbs
Target for valentine’s day 14 stone

F****** b****** thing...

Great start rush. Will add you to the next version of the table - if you post on sat i'll use your then up to date numbers rather than the ones above.

I've updated the table with Begbie and Rush's details.

Begbie, I imagine it was going reasonably well and you those meals put a couple of pounds back in. No doubt your efforts will show this coming week.

Thanks Theresa, although your method has helped many loose the pounds in the past!

Its interesting how everyone on this thread has been a member of the forum for at least eight years. What happens when you go to a coupe meet these days - are all the people there sinewy little stick people!?

3 lbs lost for me this week (I've edited my weight Steve).

Pretty disappointed with that for my first week considering how much less I've eaten and drank and have even taken the dogs out more often.
I usually lose at least 5 lbs or more in my first week frown

I've gained about 4 stone since joining this forum and starting the weight loss thread rolleyes laugh

Well, three is a good start Theresa. Cutting back and exercise has to be the way forwards. Good news is that the exercise should be at a level designed to burn fat rather than get you fit is where you should be I think - it requires fairly lengthy periods of exercise, but at a low level of effort. If you are willing to buy yourself a heart rate monitor I can work out your fat burning zone for you.

I'd be interested in hearing what you would recommend for me? I have a HRM and it's logged through my Strava. I'm 36, 5'8, you know my weight and my average HR is around 160bpm with a peak being high around 185 - 189bpm (generally when I've just got to the top of the hill on the bike). Commute is generally 30 mins / 8 miles in the morning and then the same in the evening

Chris, is your Feb 14th target weight a mistake or just what you expect to be by then laugh

Steve, yes, considering my weight, I am quite fit, but as you've said, I probably need to make the effort to actually burn some fat, which I probably won't do, as proccy well knows (see his sarcastic comment below) laugh
