I have been looking into these, but are any of you running high bhp applications using one of these. And if so i take it they dont pass emissions come MOT time due to the tuning on the car. Mine will be running 400+bhp when its done and the only reason i would want one is so i dont have to mess around come mot time.

yup, I am on a Graham Goode racing cat 100 CPI. It passes the emissions by a mile ( now it has been mapped properly ) It used to fail a few times on hydrocarbons, simply because the engine was literally pushing fuel through the exhaust. I'm up to about 440hp ( at 1.2 bar ), on the road, I hold about 1.5 bar, so the hp is probably a tad higher, torque is deffo hard. I may one day fit the cat bypass pipe & let flea map it, but it's my manifold that restricts the flow, NOT the CAT

Yeah i hear the 100 cells are not restrictive so shouldnt cause too much in the way of a restriction.
Where does one stand if you get caught without a cat.? You would have to be very unlucky to get caught.

Do race cats stuff up the seals on standard turbos like a decat does?

It has less back pressure so while its not as bad its probably a matter of time. Seals can go just from the increased boost with the cat on. My seals did at 1.2 bar.

A de-cat will be about £400 cheaper and for the sake of 1/2 an hours work at MOT time, id go cat-less

Ive spoken to guys who have "genuinely" passed MOT's with decats, if thats true then the 20VT emissions must be very good...that or some guys just turn a sympathetic blind eye

yeah thats the one. Alot cheaper from Blueflame direct though.
Decats dont pass Mot's so i would seriously question the tester or the car. In over 7 years of mot testing i never saw a decat pass emissions,

My ex's Punto 1.8HGT Abarth passed without a cat on, and had the emissions trace to prove it, apart from the de-cat (and honking great huge exhaust), the car was standard though.
