When I upgrade my turbo,I will have a cracking standard one with 57000 miles mate left over.
I'll let you know if you like.

If it gets any worse in the coming months, I'll bear that in mind. I'm getting a new car next year so the coupe is just being coaxed along until I get rid of it.

Erm no Neil totally wrong I'm afraid mate.

On your/my 20vt I took the filter off as I heard a myth saying the filter was too small whilst on the dyno and it made the exact same power as with the filter on.

On a standard turbo at 1.2 bar the filter size doesn't matter at all. If you're getting into the realms of hybrid turbos and 300bhp + then the bigger filter is better!

I have the same filter that was on that car now on my 16vt and did the same test again and again same power.

Please folks correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure a free flowing filter is a free flowing filter?

Hi Mate

It was Rog at PowerItalia who pointed out that the filter was too small and would certainly affect power at higher revs. I would have thought this makes sense - surely the larger the filter the more air it can physically suck in when it needs to so even among free-flow filters there are differences. Besides, when I fitted the correct size K&N I could feel the difference - again not low down or anything but at high revs it was far more free revving. I will get the car RRed at the same place as before (was 236bhp I think) and tell you what it is now.

Ok I'll be interested to see if it makes any difference Neil and if it does I'll go buy a bigger filter for my 16VT and you can say "I hate to say told ya so..." smile

Well, I hope it is a new car but it will probably be a nearly new car if not. The new Fiesta ST or Mugen powered CR-Z hybrid are front runners at the mo.
