Apologies this has already been raised,

Anyone know anything about this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1998-FIAT-COU...mQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item3a594eab40

Cambelt almost certainly needs doing, apart from clutch, no other big jobs mentioned.

Tempted to email & see if they know their stuff...

Rare occurence, but Could it be a genuine 'seller don't realise what it is or it's value'.....

Its a 129k LE that has dings and dents and will need mechanical work.

Id say its worth £2000 from the information we have.

i have viewed it if anyone wants to know about it he offered it me at 1750..it drove ok but the gearbox on initial driving away was a little crunchy going in but after a couple of minutes was fine and selected nicely the engine though was a real surprise as it held really good oil pressure despite the miles i drove it hard then left it till the fan kicked in and it never went below between 2 and 2.5 nearerer the 2.5 though..interior ..leather cracked a fair bit on bolsters but not too bad...hope this helps....one other thing the tail pipe had lost its end and the little support on the left underside that seems to help hold the bumper on was rotton but i dont think it was structurally and it had just passed mot

Cheers,

I would deffo return to ownership wink if I can get hold of an LE or Plus at the right price.

Think I'll give that a miss, looks like it needs at least 1K+ spending on it (& thats assuming the turbo is ok & the transmission is not fccuked)

At 2k ish i'd say it defo worth a punt, you HAVE to be prepared to spend money on these, and if it takes 1k-2k to sort id say its worth it.....getting your money back, or it being a 'worthwhile' investment is irrelevant IMO....

is 3/3.5k not good for as good a car as i desribed..i can't put a full figure yet as it has a boost issue which i think is something simple if it is it will be about 3100 if not and i have to put a turbo on it will be a few hundred more but not more than 3.5 that has to be right money for a full history very clean le..buying the 1750 one would end up owing you more to get it in the condition the le i am offering is in now

I wouldn't call it a 'punt' I'd call it a risk lol could be a money pit.

Well to sum up If I had 4K (which I haven't) the choice is clear - I'd buy a sorted one off a Forum member on here for 4K, rather than buy a cheap risk for 2K, with a budget of 2K to spend on it wink

That goes without saying, id by a forum owned one over anything else....all i'm saying is that 99% of the time you have to expect to spend money when you have just bought a 'new' car...

this is all heresay...

go and see the car! you cant tell from pictures and you cant tell from asking the seller questions.

For all you know you may get there and it will be bargain of the year! Or it will be a complete dog. Eitherway you wont know unless you view the car and take it for a drive laugh

I sent him a quite lengthy email with the usual questions/info on what is missed off the ad & what is likely to need spending on it etc etc,

Oh & could I come & view it

got a one word reply:

'Sold' laugh

but the ad is still live on eBay.... I don't think he was able (or wanted!) to answer my questions lol

as i mentioned above i went to see the le on ebay which can be bought for 1750 and discribed what i saw in one of the above posts..
i am not selling it ...
howver there is a forum members very clean le with, as i mentioned above, a full history.. everything you would want from a car its had a full engine out restoration and is in excelent order bar a slight boost issue which will be fixed so it runs perfectly as it was doing untill this little issue developed..i was just saying it is for sale or will be when its been in to a specialist and had the boost flutter sorted..then it will be priced at between 3 and 3.5k..which for a full history 90k mls very clean le is not a lot. the one i am describing here is a nice one ..this is fact not hearsay i am not doing anything but reporting it as it is you are welcome to view..i would say however if you are looking to buy an le and cant afford this at under 3.5k you will not own one that is any good as if you did go with a cheaper one it would definately owe you more than 3.5 to have it in the order this ones in

£1750 sounds alright to me.

Contrary to some of the comments here, I'd much rather buy a cheap oe and then do the work properly myself. I have seen some RIGHT lash ups lately and not on cheap cars only.

In context, there's a total shed with a scooby bonnet vent, white details, no MOT and no tax discussed here for £1450. It makes this look very competativley price.
