i'm upgrading the standard pads and discs, just wondering if I should change anything else at the same time?

If you're serious about keeping the coop for a while, check the brake hoses & uprate them for braided ones if need be.

Other than that already said, just make sure to clean everything properly like pad guides and hub faces. Plus make sure pistons etc. move as they should

yes, definitely clean out as much of the baked-on brake dust as possible, especially around the stainless pad guides - a stiff toothbrush is usually sufficient (although probably not wise to put it back in the bathroom afterwards)

Also - make sure the rubber dust seals are intact for each piston - the pistons will seize very quickly if water gets in there

excellent, thanks all. might touch up the paint on the calipers too.

How much are braided hoses and who does them?
