Hi
I have a nice 1999 Fiat Coupe NON turbo 20V at 65k . All well now Lamda sensor changed .
However on checking tyres I see previous owner put 17 inch wheels and tyres on .
Handbook says 6and a half J x 15 inch H2 40 alloy and tyres should be 205/50R 15 86W . Is this right ??
Is ride better on original wheels and tyres . Mike

Yes - the stock wheel size for a 20v non-turbo is 15" and it will definitely ride better on the smaller wheel (as the tyre is much taller, so it will absorb bumps better)

However, the taller tyre will also roll more when cornering, so turn-in won't be as sharp.

However, my opinion is that a top-end tyre on the 15" wheel will give just as much grip as a budget tyre on the 17" wheel

Its all down to styling preference really

Hi,

The 20V N/A is a bit strange. The following tyres are OK on appropriate wheels:

205/55 15
205/50 15 (Std)
205/50 16

I swapped my original, very heavy 15" wheels on quite good Fulda tyres (Extremos, I think they were) for the 16" 20VT wheels with Goodyear F1 GSD tyres. The ride is actually noticably better on the bigger combination. Might it be down to the FIAT 16" wheels being lighter?

I should weigh them I guess, as I still have the old ones in the shed.
